DescriptionThe whole story▼
A loaded BMW F900XR is at its least graceful when it is barely moving. Ferry queues, filling-station forecourts, a hotel courtyard at the end of a long day: the bike is tall, the luggage sits high, and the rider picks a way forward at walking speed with one foot hovering over the pedal. Accossato builds the AGPP91 rear pad in the Organic (OR) compound for that quiet part of touring, and lists it for the F900XR of 2020 to 2026, where the back brake spends far more of its life steadying the bike than stopping it.
Key Features
- Organic (OR) rear pads, article AGPP91OR, for the BMW F900XR
- Model years 2020 to 2026, rear wheel
- Accossato promises a long spell of service and restrained wear on the disc
- Suited to the light, frequent pedal pressure of slow work
- Two pads in the box, which fills the single rear caliper
- Available in the Sintered (ST) material as well for all-weather riders
- The front wheel of this bike takes the AGPA177 pad, same years
- No German ABE on record; sold for competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato sells this rear pad in three materials, and the organic one is the mildest of the three. Two returns are claimed for it: the pads stay in service a long while before renewal falls due, and the disc behind them is treated kindly, losing less of its friction ring over the years than a harder mixture would remove. Both arguments land well at the back of a touring machine, where a disc is seldom worked hard enough to earn early replacement and where nobody enjoys paying for one. Each box contains two pads, which is what the single rear caliper here holds.
Shuffling Forward in a Ferry Queue
Slow riding on a fully packed sports tourer is a balancing act performed with the right foot. A steady pull from the engine held against a lightly dragging rear brake keeps the machine stable and turning inside its own length; release everything at once and a tall bike with panniers simply leans away from you. Riders who practise this stop putting a foot down every few metres and start steering with the pedal instead, which is also the safest way to shuffle through a queue of cars towards a ramp.
Pads worked in this manner never get properly hot, yet they spend a great deal of time in light contact with the disc, and the rear caliper sits directly in the spray thrown up by the back wheel. Look at it when you clean the bike. Pistons that have collected road film stop retracting evenly, which drags a pad against the disc without anyone touching the pedal, and clean pistons are also the difference between an easy pad change and a fight with the caliper.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato assigns the AGPP91 to the rear wheel of the BMW F900XR for model years 2020 to 2026. One caliper at the back means one box does the whole job, though both pads inside it belong on the bike together, even when only one of the old pair looks tired. The front of the same machine is catalogued for the AGPA177 pad across identical years, and this model is one of the few for which Accossato also lists discs of its own, the DK006 and the DK007.
Road Approval
Nothing that would document an approval for the AGPP91OR, a German ABE included, has been supplied to us. We therefore offer the pad for competition and closed-course use.
Scope of Delivery
Two Accossato AGPP91 pads in the Organic (OR) compound, packed as the set for the rear caliper.
