DescriptionThe whole story▼
On a tall bike the rear brake is worked by a boot chosen for walking about in mud rather than for delicate tasks, and often by a rider standing on the pegs with the pedal somewhere below. The F 850 GS asks a fair amount of that arrangement. Accossato's Organic (OR) compound on the AGPP91 pad is the everyday choice for the rear of the BMW F 850 GS of 2018 to 2023.
Key Features
- Rear brake pads for the BMW F 850 GS, 2018 to 2023
- AGPP91 plate with the Organic (OR) material, article number AGPP91OR
- Accossato promises stamina and gentle treatment of the disc
- Suited to traffic, manoeuvring and ordinary touring
- A single rear caliper takes one box of two pads
- ST and STMX materials sit on the same plate
- Front pads for the same years: AGPA92
- No German ABE recorded; supplied for competition and track use
Construction and Material Quality
The organic material Accossato puts on this plate is offered for its stamina: it keeps working for a long while and does not eat into the disc as it goes. Behind a travel enduro both qualities are worth having, because the rear disc sits low, close to the wheel, and catches everything the tyre lifts off the road. Pads that wear away steadily without taking their partner with them keep the back end of the bike out of the workshop. The AGPP91 is a plate used across a great many machines, and this article number is its organic version. The box holds the two pads a rear caliper takes.
The Pedal Under a Touring Boot
Rear brake technique on a big adventure machine is a skill of its own. Seated in traffic you want small, measured applications, but the boot is stiff and the pedal is a long way down, so the feel comes back through several layers of leather and sole. Stand up and everything changes again: the angle of the ankle is different, and riders who spend time off the seat often set the pedal height specifically so it can still be reached. What helps in either position is a pad that responds in proportion to what your foot is doing, with no sudden step in the middle of its range. On an F 850 GS the rear brake is also the control that keeps matters calm in a slow queue of traffic, which is a job it does far more often than anything heroic. Check the pedal's free play when new pads go in, since a pedal set too high leaves the pads touching and wears them away for nothing.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the AGPP91 at the rear of the BMW F 850 GS from 2018 to 2023, the same years its front pad covers. The rear runs a single caliper, so one box with its pair of pads finishes the job, and the pair is always changed together. Riders who want something else from the same plate will find the ST and STMX materials; the front of the F 850 GS takes the AGPA92 over the identical years, and DK006 is the disc in the catalogue for this bike.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no test certificate for the AGPP91OR are held by us, so nothing on file documents it for public roads. We sell it for competition and track use.
Scope of Delivery
One box of two AGPP91 pads in the Organic (OR) compound, the complete set for the rear caliper.
