DescriptionThe whole story▼
Two up, a car park, a slight slope and a passenger who has just got on: this is the situation in which the rear brake of a Tuono V4 1100 RR earns its keep, and it has nothing to do with speed. Accossato's AGPA42 is the rear pad for the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 RR built between 2015 and 2019, and this article number carries the Organic (OR) compound, which the firm offers for long service and for going easy on the disc.
Key Features
- Rear brake pads for the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 RR, model years 2015 to 2019
- Organic (OR) compound, article number AGPA42OR
- Accossato's aims for it: longer performance and reduced wear of the disc
- Suited to a bike used two up and manoeuvred at low speed
- Two pads per box, which is the complete rear caliper
- Front pads for the RR are catalogued as the AGPA177 for 2015 and 2016
- The DKS032 disc appears in the same programme for this model
- No German ABE and no test certificate in our files; competition use
Construction and Material Quality
The two properties Accossato puts forward for this material, a long working life and restraint towards the disc, are the ones that matter where the rear brake is used gently and constantly. Fine control is the other half of it. A pad that bites abruptly makes low-speed work harder than it needs to be, because the rider is trying to trim a walking pace with the ball of one foot while balancing a loaded motorcycle. The AGPA42 outline matches the original rear caliper of the RR, so the fitted set comes out and this one goes in; it should move freely in the caliper rather than be forced. One box contains the pair for that caliper.
Two Up at Walking Pace
A passenger feels every mistake made with the rear brake. Roll up to a junction with a heavy foot and the two helmets meet; hold the bike on the pedal at a hill start and everything stays calm. The same applies to slow manoeuvres: turning a Tuono V4 1100 RR round in a narrow street with somebody on the back is far easier with a little rear brake against a whiff of throttle than with either control alone. All that asks of the pads is a predictable, progressive response from cold, since this kind of work happens at the start and end of a ride rather than in the middle. Look at the rear pads once a season even if they feel fine, and clean the pistons before pushing them back so the caliper releases properly afterwards.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists this rear pad for the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 RR across the model years 2015 to 2019. The front entry for the same bike is shorter, covering 2015 and 2016, so a later RR can be supplied at the rear from this catalogue even where the front cannot. There is one rear caliper, so one box is the whole job, while the front takes two. The DKS032 disc is offered for this machine as well.
Road Approval
These pads come to us with no German ABE and no approval mark of any kind, and we accordingly offer them for competition and closed-course riding.
