DescriptionThe whole story▼
The rear disc of a Tuono V4 1100 leads an unglamorous life. It is small, it sits in the spray thrown up by the back tyre, and it usually outlasts several sets of pads before anybody looks at it properly. Accossato's AGPA42 is the rear pad for the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 of 2015, and this article number carries the Organic (OR) compound, the material the firm sets up for a long working life and for treating the disc gently while it does its job.
Key Features
- Rear brake pads for the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100, 2015 model year
- Organic (OR) compound under the article number AGPA42OR
- Accossato's aim for the material: longer service and restrained wear of the disc
- A sensible choice where the rear brake is used lightly and often
- Two pads per box, which is everything the single rear caliper needs
- Front pads for the same 2015 machine: the AGPA177
- The DKS032 disc appears in the same catalogue for this model
- No German ABE and no test papers on record; sold for competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Two things are claimed for this compound, and both are about time rather than about force. It is meant to keep performing over a long period, and it is meant not to eat into the disc while doing so. At the back of a motorcycle those aims make sense together. A rear pad works in brief, light touches, so it spends years in the caliper rather than months, and a material that is kind to the disc can save the more expensive component underneath it. The pad follows the AGPA42 shape that the rear caliper of the Tuono V4 1100 was built around and needs no persuading into place. One box holds both pads, which is the complete rear brake.
Looking After the Disc Underneath
Pads are consumables and a disc ought not to be. When the rear wheel of a 2015 Tuono V4 1100 comes out, run a fingernail across the friction track: a pronounced lip at the outer edge and deep scoring mean the disc has been paying for the pads. Check that the pistons move freely and clean them before they are pushed back, because a caliper that cannot release drags the pads against the disc for the rest of the ride and heats both. Look at the fluid while the reservoir cap is off, since the rear system is the one nobody bleeds. When the fresh pads are in, work the pedal until it comes up firm before the bike moves, and use the first few stops gently so the material settles onto the disc.
Fitment and Compatibility
This rear pad is catalogued for the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 of the 2015 model year; the Factory and RR versions of the family carry their own entries and their own spans of years. A single box is the whole job at the back, since there is one caliper to fill. At the front of the same 2015 bike Accossato lists the AGPA177 pad, and the DKS032 disc is offered for the machine as well, which matters if the wheels are coming out anyway.
Road Approval
These pads reach us without a German ABE and without any approval mark, so we pass them on for racing and closed-course riding rather than for the public road.
Scope of Delivery
One box with two AGPA42 pads in the Organic (OR) compound, which equips the rear caliper completely.
