DescriptionThe whole story▼
The rear brake of a sports bike lives in the worst place on the machine. It sits behind the rear tyre, in the line of everything the tyre picks up and throws backwards, and on an Aprilia RS 457 there is no mudguard the size of a touring bike's to shield it. Grit, salt spray in February and the odd overspray of chain lubricant all end up on that small disc. The AGPP91 pad covers the rear of the RS 457 of 2024 and 2025, and this listing is the Organic compound.
Key Features
- Rear brake pads for the Aprilia RS 457, 2024 and 2025
- Organic mixture, described by Accossato as long-lasting and gentle on the disc
- A sensible match for a bike ridden on public roads all year
- Also offered in Sintered and in the off-road STMX mixture
- Two pads in one box, the amount a single caliper holds
- Front pads for the same machine: Accossato AGPA184
- No German ABE in our files; supplied for competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato asks two things of this material: that it last, and that it leave the disc alone. For a rear brake those aims fit together, because most of the damage done to a rear disc comes not from heat but from abrasive dirt that gets dragged across it by the pads. A mixture that is not itself aggressive gives that process less to work with. The pad is made to the shape of the RS 457 rear caliper, and the backing is finished so that it slides in its rails rather than jamming when the pistons push.
Keeping the Rear Disc Clean
Two habits pay for themselves on a bike used through the winter. The first is a wash that includes the back of the wheel, so that road salt does not spend a fortnight sitting around the caliper while the RS 457 is under a cover. The second concerns the chain. Lubricant flung off a freshly oiled chain lands on the inside face of the rear disc more often than owners admit, and a greasy disc gives a spongy, unreliable pedal that no new pad can fix. Wipe the disc clean with a proper brake cleaner after every chain job, spin the wheel and look at both faces in daylight. If you have just fitted new pads, press the pedal a few times before riding off so the pistons take up their travel.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's entry for the AGPP91 covers the Aprilia RS 457 from 2024 to 2025 in this pad shape. It goes into the original rear caliper in place of the set fitted there. The matching front pad in the same catalogue is the AGPA184; change one axle at a time so that the feel at each control stays familiar while you get used to the new material.
Road Approval
We have received no German ABE and no test mark for the AGPP91, so the pads are sold for racing and closed-circuit use only.
Scope of Delivery
You receive one box containing the pair of Organic rear pads for one caliper.
