DescriptionThe whole story▼
Ask a room of riders what the rear brake is for and the answers diverge quickly. On a Dorsoduro 900 the honest answer is that it does a great deal of small work and very little large work: steadying the bike at walking pace, settling the suspension before a corner, holding position on a slope. Accossato's Organic (OR) material in the AGPP91 pad is matched to that job description, and it is listed for the Aprilia Dorsoduro 900 of 2018 to 2020.
Key Features
- Organic (OR) rear pads for the Aprilia Dorsoduro 900, article AGPP91OR
- Model years 2018 to 2020, rear wheel
- Accossato credits the material with long life and gentle disc wear
- The softest of the three materials in this pad shape
- Two pads per box, which fills the single rear caliper
- ST and STMX versions available for harsher conditions
- The front of this bike takes AGPA101 pads, one box per caliper
- No German ABE on record; for competition riding
Construction and Material Quality
Organic is the gentlest of the three fillings offered in the AGPP91 outline, and Accossato makes a modest, believable pair of claims for it: a long time between changes and less material taken off the disc while it is in service. Both suit a component that works at low temperatures for most of its life. The company, which has built brake parts in the Turin area since 1969, uses the same plate and the same dimensions across the three materials, and packs two pads to a box, which is what the rear caliper accepts.
How Hard the Rear Brake Really Works
Most of the energy of a stop goes through the front wheel, because weight transfers forward the moment you brake and the rear tyre is left with little load to work with. That is why rear pads on a road bike often outlast two sets at the front. It does not make the rear brake unimportant. It is the control you use to stop the bike rolling on a hill, to tighten a slow turn, and to settle a tall machine before it leans. Because it is used constantly and lightly, the things that spoil it are contamination and neglect rather than heat: chain lubricant on the disc, dust packed around the pistons, a pad worn thin without anyone looking. Take the wheel out once a season, clean everything, and look at the pads properly rather than through the gap.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists this pad for the rear wheel of the Dorsoduro 900 from 2018 to 2020, where one box completes the work. Riders who face wet winters or unsurfaced roads have the ST and STMX materials in the same outline. At the front of the bike the AGPA101 pad covers the same model years and needs a box for each of the two calipers, while the DKS032 floating disc rounds out the range for this Dorsoduro.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE for the AGPP91OR among our papers and no other approval we could point to. We sell it for competition and for use on closed courses.
Scope of Delivery
