DescriptionThe whole story▼
Queues on a slope are the quiet test of a big adventure bike. Waiting to roll onto a ferry, creeping up to a barrier, holding station behind a caravan on a hill start, the rider of a Caponord 1200 Rally has one foot down, one hand busy and the whole weight of the machine resting on the rear brake. Accossato's Organic (OR) version of the AGPP91 rear pad is built for that undramatic side of riding, and it is listed for the Rally across the 2015 to 2019 model years.
Key Features
- Organic (OR) rear pads, article AGPP91OR, for the Aprilia Caponord 1200 Rally
- Model years 2015 to 2019, rear wheel
- Accossato promises a long life from the material and restrained disc wear
- The mildest of the three materials offered in this pad shape
- Two pads per box, exactly what the single rear caliper needs
- ST and STMX versions exist for wet touring and for unsurfaced roads
- The Rally's front pads are catalogued as AGPA177
- No German ABE documented; supplied for competition use
Construction and Material Quality
An organic mixture is the gentlest way to fill the AGPP91 outline, and Accossato attaches two benefits to it. The first is endurance: the pad goes a long way between changes. The second concerns the part underneath, since a softer material removes less steel from the disc over its life, and on a rear wheel the disc usually costs several times what a set of pads does. Riders who keep a bike for many years notice that arithmetic. Two pads arrive in the box, which is the whole rear caliper covered.
Holding Station on a Slope
There is a technique to waiting on a hill with a heavy bike, and it is almost entirely a rear brake skill. Hold the machine still with steady pressure on the pedal, keep the engine running with enough revs that a small clutch movement will pull away, and resist the temptation to balance everything on the front lever, which takes your steering hand out of the equation. Riders on tall bikes also learn to choose their foot: put down the one on the higher side of the camber and the bike stands closer to upright. A rear pad used like this never sees great heat, but it spends a lot of its life pressed lightly against the disc. Once in a while check that the pistons are still moving cleanly and that neither pad is wearing faster than its partner.
Fitment and Compatibility
This rear pad is catalogued for the ETV 1200 Caponord Rally from 2015 to 2019. The rear wheel has a single caliper, so one box finishes the task, unlike the front, where the AGPA177 is needed twice over for the same model years. Should your Rally spend its winters on wet roads or its summers on gravel, the ST and STMX materials fill the same shape and are the better answer for those conditions.
Road Approval
Nothing resembling an approval document or a German ABE has come to us with this pad. We offer the AGPP91OR for competition and closed-course use, and make no claim beyond that.
Scope of Delivery
Two AGPP91 pads in the Organic (OR) material, boxed together as the set for the rear caliper.
