DescriptionThe whole story▼
The hardest part of a long day on a loaded Caponord 1200 is often the last few metres: a gravel car park behind a hotel, a ferry ramp, a turn in a village street too narrow for the luggage you are carrying. All of that is done with the rear brake, the clutch and a bit of throttle, at walking pace, with both feet ready. Accossato's AGPP91 rear pad in the Organic (OR) compound is made for that kind of everyday work on the 2013 to 2019 Aprilia Caponord.
Key Features
- Rear brake pads for the Aprilia Caponord 1200, model years 2013 to 2019
- Article number AGPP91OR, the Organic (OR) version of the AGPP91 shape
- Accossato promises a long working life and a gentle effect on the disc
- Two pads in the box, the set for one rear caliper
- Covers the ETV 1200 Caponord and the Travel Pack machine from 2016
- The same shape is also produced in the ST and STMX materials
- Front pads for this bike are catalogued as AGPA177
- No German ABE on record, sold for competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Every AGPP91 leaves the factory with the same outline; the difference lies in what is pressed onto it. The organic mixture is the mildest of the three, and Accossato makes two points about it: it lasts a long time before it needs changing, and it treats the disc kindly, taking less material off the friction ring than a harder mixture would. On a rear brake, where a disc is expensive out of proportion to the pads that wear it, the second point has real value. The box contains two pads, exactly what the single rear caliper needs.
Walking Pace With a Loaded Bike
Slow manoeuvres are their own skill, and the rear brake is the tool that makes them possible. Keep a steady drive against a lightly dragging rear brake and a tall, laden Caponord will turn inside its own length instead of falling away from you; release it entirely and the bike lurches, which is how most car park drops begin. The same trick holds the machine still on a slope while you wait to board a ferry or shuffle forward in a queue. Pads used that way never get very hot, but they do a great deal of light rubbing, and an organic mixture is happy in that role without protesting audibly every time you paddle backwards. Hose the rear wheel with plain water now and then so grit does not sit between pad and disc.
Fitment and Compatibility
The AGPP91 is Accossato's rear pad for the Caponord 1200 from 2013 to 2019, listed for the ETV 1200 Caponord and, from 2016, for the Travel Pack version. One caliper works the rear wheel, so a single box completes the job. Two further materials wear this shape, ST and STMX, for riders whose bikes see wet touring or unsurfaced roads. Up front the range offers the AGPA177 pad across the same years, and the DKS032 floating disc.
Road Approval
Documents that would show an approval for this pad, a German ABE among them, are not in our possession. The AGPP91OR is therefore offered strictly for competition and closed-course riding.
Scope of Delivery
One set of two Accossato AGPP91 pads in the Organic (OR) compound, which fills the rear caliper.
