DescriptionThe whole story▼
Triumph's big shaft-driven triple, the Tiger Explorer, listed by Accossato as the Tiger 1200 Explorer, was built in its first form from 2012 to 2015. For those bikes, Accossato offers front pad AGPA58, and this item is the Organic (OR) compound. It is aimed at the Explorer owner whose riding is mostly calm and everyday: commuting on a comfortable large bike, relaxed weekend runs, easy-going trips. The OR mix gives a smooth, progressive lever and looks after the front discs.
Key Features
- Front pad AGPA58 in Organic (OR) compound
- For the Triumph Tiger Explorer (Tiger 1200 Explorer), 2012 to 2015
- Accossato: sustained performance with limited disc wear
- Smooth, progressive lever for relaxed riding
- Quiet in everyday traffic
- Two pads per box, one front caliper
- ST, EV1 and EV2 versions on the same plate
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's summary of Organic is a pad that works well over a long period and causes little disc wear. On a large, heavy tourer like the early Explorer, where discs are a significant maintenance cost, that is a practical advantage. The Italian maker, founded in Moncalieri in 1969, also cites slow wear, fade resistance through moderated heat and strong stopping power for its pads.
A Big Bike, Gently Handled
A heavy adventure tourer asks a lot of its front brake, but in daily use most of those demands are gentle: slowing in traffic, stopping at lights, easing into a car park. An OR pad makes those moments smooth, with a progressive lever that lets you judge exactly how much braking you are applying. That smoothness is particularly welcome on a large bike, where a grabby front brake would unsettle the chassis at walking pace. The quiet running of Organic pads and their kindness to the discs add to the appeal for high-mileage owners who keep their Explorer for many years. For wet two-up touring, ST; for sporty riding, EV1.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists AGPA58 for the front of the Tiger Explorer from 2012 to 2015. The 2016 and 2017 Explorer uses a different Accossato front pad, AGPA177, so check the model year before ordering. The Explorer has two front calipers, which means two boxes for a complete front change. At the rear, Accossato lists AGPA76 for 2012 to 2017. Clean the pistons before pushing them back, check discs and fluid and pump the lever until firm.
Road Approval
We hold no German ABE or test mark for AGPA58OR, and we sell it for racing and competition use.
