DescriptionThe whole story▼
The California Custom ABS 1400 is the stripped version of Moto Guzzi's big cruiser: no screen, no cases, just the transverse V-twin, a low seat and wide bars. Plenty of them are bought by riders returning to motorcycling after years away, who enjoy short evening rides and the occasional Sunday outing. Accossato's AGPA96 front pad in the Organic compound, article AGPA96OR, is catalogued for this bike from 2013 to 2015 and suits that relaxed, low-mileage kind of ownership.
Key Features
- AGPA96OR front pads for the Moto Guzzi California Custom ABS 1400
- Accossato catalogue years: 2013 to 2015
- Organic compound for easy-going road use
- Accossato points to lasting performance and kind treatment of the disc
- Works straight away on short, cold trips
- Plate also made in ST, EV1, EV2 and ZXC
- For track use; no German approval documents on file
Construction and Material Quality
For its Organic mixture Accossato emphasises two things: performance that holds up over time and restrained wear on the brake disc. On a Custom that is ridden for short, gentle outings, those qualities fit the bill. The brake does not need to warm up to feel natural, and the original discs are treated with care. Accossato's broader claim that its pads stop strongly and hold off fade by keeping temperature in check applies too. The Organic material sits on the AGPA96 backing plate.
Back on Two Wheels
Riders who return to motorcycling after a long break often choose a bike like the California Custom because it is low, stable and forgiving. What they want from the front brake is a lever that can be squeezed without drama: a progressive build of stopping force that makes it easy to judge a gentle halt at a junction or a firmer one when a car pulls out.
An Organic pad supports that kind of learning. It also tends to be quiet, which is pleasant on a bike whose engine note is part of the charm. Spend a few rides after fitting with deliberate, moderate stops so the new surfaces bed in evenly.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato assigns AGPA96 to the front brake of the Moto Guzzi California Custom ABS 1400 in model years 2013 to 2015, which it lists as the California 1400 Custom. The rear of this bike takes AGPA92 for the same span; no disc from Accossato is catalogued for it. Twin front calipers mean you need two boxes to do both sides.
Road Approval
AGPA96OR is offered for racing and competition because no ABE or German approval mark has been provided to us.
Scope of Delivery
Two Organic front pads packed together, sufficient for one caliper.
