DescriptionThe whole story▼
Benelli built the Leoncino 500 for riders who wanted a middleweight twin rather than a big one, and a fair number of the early machines, from 2016 and 2017, went to people with a licence still new in their pocket. Slowing a motorcycle smoothly is a skill that licence does not hand over with it; it arrives over the first months. The AGPA96 is the front pad Accossato lists for those early bikes, and this article number carries the Organic (OR) material, the gentlest mixture the company puts into the shape.
Key Features
- Front pads for the Benelli Leoncino 500 of the 2016 and 2017 model years
- AGPA96OR: Accossato's AGPA96 shape filled with the Organic (OR) material
- Answers in proportion to the fingers, which suits riders still learning a front brake
- Accossato names long service life and low disc wear as the qualities of this mixture
- A box contains two pads, the number a single caliper needs
- Check how many calipers sit on your front wheel before ordering
- Later Leoncino 500 models are served by the AGPA112 pad
- No German ABE documented, so the pads are sold for the circuit
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato cuts the AGPA96 to suit the caliper of the early Leoncino 500 and then offers the shape with a choice of friction materials; the two letters at the end mark the organic one. Asked what it does, the company gives two answers: it lasts, and it spares the disc. A mixture of this kind tends to build its grip in step with the pressure on the lever instead of snatching at the first touch, which is what a rider still finding the edges of a front brake wants under the fingers. Two pads travel in the box, enough to fill one caliper.
Learning the Last Part of a Stop
The hardest piece of braking to learn is the end of it. Almost anyone can pull a lever hard; bringing a motorcycle to rest without the forks nodding and throwing you against the tank takes practice, and it is worth finding somewhere empty to get it. A quiet industrial estate on a Sunday morning will do. Pick a mark on the road, ride at it at a modest speed, squeeze the lever progressively and release the last of the pressure as the machine settles, then turn round and do it again. A Leoncino 500 is a friendly tool for this exercise: it is not a heavy motorcycle, the handlebar is wide enough to give leverage, and the front end reports what the tyre is doing. Pads that respond in proportion to the hand make the lesson easier to read.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list covers the front of the Benelli Leoncino 500 in 2016 and 2017 with the AGPA96; from 2018 the catalogue moves to a different front pad, the AGPA112, so the model year on the papers decides which of the two belongs on your bike. The rear wheel of a 2016 or 2017 Leoncino 500 is served by the AGPA42, and the DKS032 is the Accossato disc listed for the front. One box is one caliper's worth, so look at the front wheel and count before you order; both sides of an axle should be renewed in the same session.
Road Approval
We hold no German ABE and no test certificate for the AGPA96OR. That absence is the reason the pad is offered here for closed circuits and competition use only.
Scope of Delivery
