DescriptionThe whole story▼
A Benelli BN600 R spends much of its week well below the speed at which its four cylinders start to sing. Out of the driveway, into the queue for the ring road, three sets of lights and a right turn across traffic: the engine is barely working, and the front brake is asked for one small, accurate stop after another. Accossato's Organic material on the AGPA112 plate is cut for that diet. It suits an owner who covers short distances at town speeds on a BN600 R of 2014 to 2017 and would rather the front discs outlived several sets of pads.
Key Features
- Front brake pads for the Benelli BN600 R, model years 2014 to 2017
- Accossato article AGPA112 in the Organic material
- Drawn for town riding, short journeys and unhurried road use
- Accossato describes the material as long-lasting and easy on the disc
- Two pads per box, which is one caliper's worth
- Count the calipers on the front of your bike before deciding how many boxes to order
- Four further materials share the same AGPA112 plate
- No German ABE on file; sold for racing and competition
Construction and Material Quality
What Accossato says about its Organic material is short and specific: it lasts a long time in service and it keeps disc wear down. Both halves of that matter more on a used naked than on a race bike. Discs are among the more expensive things to renew on a BN600 R, and a material that works with them rather than against them keeps a brake service down to the price of pads. Accossato was founded in 1969 at Moncalieri, just outside Turin, and sorts its pad range by named materials instead of offering one recipe for every kind of riding.
Little Help From the Engine at Low Revs
Shut the throttle on a big single and the bike noticeably slows itself. A four of this size, turning at the revs town traffic uses, does much less of that, so the rider's fingers end up doing the work instead. Over a morning in queues that adds up to dozens of light applications, nearly all of them made with a lever that has had no chance to build any heat. A material with a soft, early response makes those stops easy to judge. One that wants warmth before it answers feels wooden at the moment accuracy matters, which is usually a metre behind somebody's boot lid.
The same gentleness shows in how an Organic set treats the discs. Pads are consumable and discs are not, and on a bike from this period the front pair has often already served more than one owner. Measure their thickness against the minimum figure stamped on them whenever you fit new pads, keep the faces clear of chain lube and cleaner overspray, and bed a fresh set in with a run of firm stops from moderate speed before you rely on it in traffic. Renew pads in pairs across the axle, and pump the lever back up before the bike leaves the stand.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's listing for the AGPA112 plate covers the BN600 R from 2014 to 2017 at the front. The back of the same machine takes the AGPA42 pad, which the catalogue runs from 2012 to 2017, and there is a DKS032 disc on the list should the originals be near the end of their lives. Anybody who wants this plate in a material built for wet autumn roads should look at the Sintered version instead; the three competition materials belong on a bike that is not being ridden to work.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no test certificate reached us with this set, so we sell it for racing and competition rather than for use on the public road.
Scope of Delivery
One box with two Organic pads, enough to fill a single front caliper on the BN600 R.
