DescriptionThe whole story▼
Sooner or later the small Aprilia in the garage needs its first piece of real maintenance, and on an RS4 50 that job is usually the front pads. Little has to come off, the parts are light enough to hold in one hand, and the result is something you feel on the way to school or work the next morning. Accossato covers the RS4 50 from 2011 to 2021 with the AGPA32, and this listing is the Organic (OR) version, chosen by riders who want quiet, undramatic braking on the road.
Key Features
- Organic (OR) front brake pads for the Aprilia RS4 50, 2011 to 2021
- Accossato reference AGPA32, supplied as a pair, which fills one caliper
- An everyday compound for commuting, riding schools and learner miles
- Accossato's own words: lasting performance with reduced wear on the disc
- The same pad also exists in a sintered mix and in three racing compounds
- Accossato additionally lists the AGPA142 front pad for the RS4 50 of 2012 to 2019
- Rear pads for this bike: Accossato AGPA258
- No German ABE on file; intended for racing and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
What separates one Accossato pad from the next is the friction mix pressed onto it, and the organic recipe is the firm's answer to daily road use. Accossato states that the OR compound delivers over a long period and limits the wear it inflicts on the disc, a pairing that appeals when one replacement disc costs more than several sets of pads. The company has been making brake components since 1969, when it started out in Moncalieri on the edge of Turin, and its pad range follows three intentions throughout: stop firmly, wear slowly, and hold temperature in check so the brake does not go soft partway down a descent. An RS4 50 that mostly sees town speeds stays comfortably inside those limits.
Doing the Job Yourself
Before the first bolt comes out, put the bike on a stand that holds it level and find a clean rag. Study the old pads while they are still in place: uneven wear between the two of them points at a piston that is not moving freely, and that is better solved now than later. Wipe the visible faces of the pistons before pushing them back into the caliper, because grit dragged past a seal will cost far more than an evening of work. Watch the fluid in the reservoir as the pistons retreat, since the level rises as they go home.
With the new set in place, pump the lever until it firms up and stays firm; a bike rolled off the stand with an empty lever is a nasty surprise. Then bed the pads in gently, a run of easy stops from moderate speed with time to cool between them, before you ask for anything hard. The RS4 50 is light, so the brake reaches working temperature quickly, and a handful of deliberate stops on a quiet road is enough to settle the fresh surfaces against the disc.
Fitment and Compatibility
The AGPA32 covers the Aprilia RS4 50 from 2011 to 2021 in Accossato's list, a longer run than the AGPA142 front pad the same catalogue shows for 2012 to 2019. Because both appear against this model, keep the old pads until the new ones are in your hand and compare the two outlines; if they differ, you have the wrong reference and nothing has been lost. Each box holds the set for one caliper, so confirm how many calipers sit on your front wheel. Change both pads in a caliper together, and never put a new pad alongside a part-worn one.
Road Approval
We hold no approval paperwork for the AGPA32 in this compound, neither a German ABE nor a test mark, which places it in the racing and competition category.
Scope of Delivery
Two AGPA32 pads in the Organic compound arrive in one box, the set for one caliper.
