DescriptionThe whole story▼
A 125 that has been standing since October tells you about itself on the first ride of spring. The discs wear a film of rust, the first few stops feel wooden, and a bike that was perfectly healthy in the autumn suddenly seems to have lost its brakes. Owners of the Aprilia RS4 125, built from 2011 to 2020, meet this every year, and the pads are usually where the story ends. Accossato's AGPA32 front pad in the Organic mixture is a road-minded set for exactly this kind of use.
Key Features
- Front brake pads for the Aprilia RS4 125 of 2011 to 2020 in the Organic compound
- Accossato describes the mixture as long-serving and sparing with the disc
- Four further mixtures exist in this shape, from a sintered set to the ceramic racing one
- A second front pad, the AGPA142, is listed for the same machine
- Each box holds the two pads a caliper takes
- Rear pads in the same catalogue: AGPA221, AGPA82 and AGPA258
- No German approval documents held; sold for track and competition
Construction and Material Quality
What Accossato promises here is service life and a disc that survives it. On a light machine such as the RS4 125 the friction material is never asked for extreme effort, so the qualities that matter are the unglamorous ones: a pad that stays in one piece through years of short journeys, and a disc face that is still smooth when the pads are finally due. The AGPA32 is pressed to its own outline, which is not the same as that of the other front pad Accossato lists for this model, and it is designed to sit in the caliper without being persuaded.
The First Ride After the Winter
Bikes left standing in a damp garage collect a fine layer of corrosion on the disc faces within weeks. It is usually scrubbed off in the first few careful stops, which is why the advice for a spring shakedown on an RS4 125 is always the same: ride slowly at first, use the brakes deliberately several times in a quiet road and let the surfaces clean themselves before you go anywhere. While you are at it, look at the reservoir. Fluid that has darkened over a winter has probably absorbed moisture and is due for renewal. Check what is left of the pads with a torch, look at the disc for deep grooves and a pronounced lip at the rim, and squeeze the lever hard several times to make sure it comes up solid. Ten minutes in the garage is cheaper than finding out on a wet roundabout.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the AGPA32 for the RS-4 125 from 2011 to 2020, which is a longer run than the AGPA142 front pad it also offers for this bike. The two are different shapes, so lay the old pads next to the new set before fitting; on a machine that has had several owners the parts in the caliper are not always the original ones. Rear pads for the RS4 125 are listed as the AGPA221, the AGPA82 and the AGPA258.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE and no test mark in our documentation for these pads. They leave us as competition parts, which is the only basis on which we can offer them.
