DescriptionThe whole story▼
Half an hour of city traffic contains more brake applications than an afternoon on an empty road. A Dorsoduro 900 is good at that work, narrow between the mirrors and tall enough to see over a queue, but the front brake is touched at nearly every junction, then again behind a bus, then again for the lights that changed too late. Accossato's Organic (OR) version of the AGPA101 pad is drawn for that pattern of light, frequent use, and it is listed for the Aprilia Dorsoduro 900 of 2018 to 2020.
Key Features
- Organic (OR) front pads, article AGPA101OR, for the Aprilia Dorsoduro 900
- Model years 2018 to 2020, front wheel
- Accossato names long endurance and reduced wear on the disc
- The mildest of four materials sharing the AGPA101 shape
- Two pads per box, which is one caliper's set
- Two front calipers on this bike, so a complete change takes two boxes
- Firmer options in the same shape: ST, EV1 and EV2
- No German ABE on record; supplied for competition use
Construction and Material Quality
The organic material is the softest way to fill the AGPA101 outline, and Accossato's account of it is about longevity rather than force. It runs for a long time before it needs replacing, and it treats the surface of the disc more kindly than a harder mixture does. That combination fits a bike whose brakes spend most of their life at moderate temperatures and are asked for control more often than for maximum retardation. Two pads arrive together in the box and go into one caliper.
Traffic, Junctions and Light Pressure
Riding in a city is mostly a matter of reading what is about to happen and adjusting speed early, which means many small brake applications rather than a few big ones. The front brake barely warms up in that use, so the material's behaviour when cold matters more than its behaviour when hot. Two things help a commuting machine. Cover the lever with two fingers in slow traffic so that the first movement of your hand is already the beginning of the stop, and give the brakes one firm application on a clear stretch at the start of each ride to see that everything responds properly. At home, keep the front wheel clean of chain fling and check the friction thickness whenever the bike is on its stand, because a pad worn to its plate will cost you a disc.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato places the AGPA101 at the front of the Aprilia Dorsoduro 900 for model years 2018 to 2020. A caliper sits behind each front disc and one box supplies one of them, so ordering two boxes and changing both sides together is the only sensible approach. The same shape can be had in the ST, EV1 and EV2 materials if your riding demands more of it. The rear wheel of this Dorsoduro is covered by the AGPP91 pad, and the DKS032 floating disc is listed for the front.
Road Approval
For this pad we have no German ABE and no approval document of any description. It is therefore sold as a competition part and belongs on a closed circuit rather than on the road to work.
Scope of Delivery
One box containing two AGPA101 pads in the Organic (OR) material, the set for a single front caliper.
