DescriptionThe whole story▼
A GSX-R 750 prepared for endurance racing keeps running for the whole distance of a long race, and whatever gets adjusted at the steering head during that time has to go back together correctly. Accossato's SA001 is an open steering stem nut built for that bike, M28x1 thread, aluminium anodised in seven colours, for the GSX-R 750 of 2006 to 2017.
Key Features
- Steering stem nut, open pattern, for the Suzuki GSX-R 750
- Accossato's years: 2006 to 2017
- M28x1 thread
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised
- Seven colours: blue, green, black, red, silver, titanium, gold
- Fixes the upper triple clamp to the steering stem
- Closed version SC001 also listed for this bike
- No German ABE on file; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Aluminium becomes the SA001 on Accossato's CNC machines, anodised afterwards in blue, green, black, red, silver, titanium or gold. The M28x1 thread is what holds the upper triple clamp to the steering stem, and because this is the open pattern, that thread stays visible at the top of the yoke once the nut is torqued down, unlike the fully closed SC001 built for the same bike.
Steering Head Work Under Pressure
During an endurance race, any steering head attention a GSX-R 750 needs has to be done quickly and correctly, with no time for guesswork. Knowing the torque figures and the correct sequence from the GSX-R 750's own workshop manual in advance, rather than looking them up under pressure, is what makes that kind of work possible. Once the nut is back in place, the open SA001 shows its colour clearly, an easy visual check from across the pit box that the job is done and the bike is ready to go back out, with nothing left half-finished at the top of the forks.
Fitment and Compatibility
The GSX-R 750 years on Accossato's list for the SA001 run 2006 to 2017. Elsewhere in our range, this M28x1 open nut turns up on the Yamaha R1M and the Suzuki GSX-S1000. For the GSX-R 750 itself, Accossato also offers the closed SC001, the AD019 fork preload adjusters, the MC006 mirror covers and the ST002 and ST008 swingarm bobbins.
Road Approval
No ABE or test certificate is available to us for the SA001, so it is sold for racing and competition use.
