DescriptionThe whole story▼
Yamaha's XVS1300A Midnight Star, sold in two spells from 2007 to 2008 and 2011 to 2016, carries a big 1300cc V-twin in classic American cruiser styling, with chrome and dark paint as the dominant theme throughout. Accossato's FP006 oil filler cap, CNC-machined aluminium anodised in eight colours with an M26x3 thread, suits the engine beneath that cruiser bodywork.
Key Features
- Oil filler cap for the Yamaha XVS1300A Midnight Star, 2007 to 2008 and 2011 to 2016
- M26x3 thread, the size Accossato states
- CNC-machined aluminium with an anodised finish
- Eight colours: blue, green, black, orange, red, silver, titanium, gold
- Also fits other motorcycles sharing the same filler thread
- No other Accossato cap currently listed for this Midnight Star
- A detail suited to a classic-styled cruiser's exposed engine
- No German ABE on file; built for track and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
A solid piece of aluminium goes onto CNC machines to become the FP006, with the colour arriving afterwards from an anodising bath rather than any paint laid on top. M26x3 is the only figure Accossato puts in writing, so beyond that measurement, the application list decides fit. A rider keeping the Midnight Star's chrome-and-dark theme intact reaches for titanium, black or silver, while orange, red, blue, green or gold break from that tradition for anyone who wants a less conventional cruiser.
An Engine on Full Display
Cruiser styling leaves the Midnight Star's big V-twin almost entirely exposed, which turns a part as small as the filler cap into a detail that gets noticed rather than one tucked away under plastic. Only remove it once the engine has stood long enough to lose its heat, having already read the level the way the handbook instructs with the bike kept level underneath. Loose dirt around the opening should be brushed away before the old cap lifts clear, since it would otherwise fall straight in, and the thread on both the cap and the housing is worth a glance while exposed. Pour any top-up slowly, and settle the FP006 home with fingers only, stopping as soon as it seats.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato names both production spells of the Midnight Star, 2007 to 2008 and 2011 to 2016, for the FP006, pairing it with the FJR1300AS and the R3, among a further handful of Yamaha models carrying the identical M26x3 filler. This Midnight Star carries no other Accossato deckel in our current range.
Road Approval
Accossato has given us no test or approval paperwork for the FP006, so it is offered for racing and closed-course use rather than German road use.
