DescriptionThe whole story▼
The FJR1300AS adds Yamaha's semi-automatic clutch system to the FJR1300 line, built from 2007 to 2018 for riders who wanted less to do with their left hand on a long motorway run. Accossato's FP006 oil filler cap, CNC-machined aluminium anodised in eight colours with an M26x3 thread, fits the AS in the same way it fits the rest of the FJR range.
Key Features
- Oil filler cap for the Yamaha FJR1300AS, 2007 to 2018
- M26x3 thread, the size Accossato states
- CNC-machined aluminium with an anodised finish
- Eight colours: blue, green, black, orange, red, silver, titanium, gold
- Also fits other motorcycles with the same filler thread
- No other Accossato cap currently listed for this FJR1300AS
- Suits a tourer built to simplify long motorway stretches
- No German ABE on file; built for track and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Aluminium, cut on CNC machinery and coloured by anodising afterwards, is what the FP006 is made from, which leaves the finish inside the surface of the metal rather than resting on top of it. Accossato's only quoted figure is the M26x3 thread; beyond that, fit depends on the application list rather than a separate measurement. An AS left in its usual touring colours suits titanium, black or silver, while orange, red, blue, green or gold mark the filler out on a bike otherwise built around comfort rather than show.
A Clutch That Simplifies, a Filler That Stays Simple
Yamaha built the semi-automatic clutch into the AS so a rider has less to think about on a long motorway stretch, and the oil filler asks for exactly that same lack of fuss. Only open it once the engine has cooled, and check the level first as the manual sets out with the bike standing level. Clearing grit from the opening before the old cap comes away keeps the oil clean, and a look at the thread and sealing face on both halves is worth the extra moment. Top up a little at a time if needed, then turn the FP006 home by hand until it stops with ease, going no further.
Fitment and Compatibility
The whole 2007 to 2018 run of the Yamaha FJR1300AS carries the FP006 on Accossato's list, a cap also named for the FJR1300A, the FJR1300AE and other Yamaha models such as the MT-03 and the R3, provided the filler size matches. No other Accossato deckel is currently listed for this particular AS.
Road Approval
Accossato has given us no test or approval paperwork for the FP006, so it is offered for racing and closed-course use rather than German road use.
