DescriptionThe whole story▼
Triumph's Daytona 675 R, built for 2014 and 2015 only, took the standard triple and fitted it with better suspension and brakes for riders who wanted the sharper end of the range. Accossato's FP004 oil filler cap, CNC-machined aluminium anodised in eight colours with an M20x2.5 thread, suits this short-run model along with the TS005 front brake and TS013 rear brake fluid reservoir caps also listed for it.
Key Features
- Oil filler cap for the Triumph Daytona 675 R, 2014 to 2015
- M20x2.5 thread, the size Accossato quotes
- CNC-machined aluminium with an anodised finish
- Eight colours: blue, green, black, orange, red, silver, titanium, gold
- Also fits other motorcycles sharing the same filler thread
- TS005 front brake and TS013 rear brake fluid reservoir caps listed for the same Daytona R
- Suits a short-production model built for two years only
- No German ABE on file; built for track and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
A solid piece of aluminium becomes the FP004 on CNC machinery before the anodising stage adds its colour, so what a rider sees is the metal itself rather than a finish laid over it afterwards. M20x2.5 is the figure Accossato puts on the thread, and it is also as far as the maker's own description of dimensions goes; fit depends on the application list rather than any further measurement. A buyer wanting the R's factory look reaches for titanium, black or silver, while orange, red, blue, green or gold flag out a short-production model built for only two years.
Looking After a Short-Run Model
Only two model years separate the Daytona 675 R from being discontinued, which makes it a rarer sight than the standard bike it shares most of its parts with, and rarer bikes tend to reward the owner who treats small jobs like the oil filler with a little extra patience. Wait for the engine to cool properly before going near the filler, and take the level reading first, exactly how the handbook lays it out with the bike standing level. A wipe around the opening before the old cap comes off keeps grit out of the oil, and the thread and sealing face on both halves deserve a look while they are exposed. Pour any top-up gradually, settle the FP004 home by hand until it stops turning with ease, and leave it there. The filler area is worth a second glance once the bike has covered a few more miles.
Fitment and Compatibility
The two model years Triumph built the Daytona 675 R, 2014 and 2015, are both covered by Accossato's listing for the FP004, and that same cap turns up again against the Ducati Diavel, Diavel Carbon and Monster 1200 ranges, plus several Hypermotard versions, since they all take the identical filler size. A front brake cap, the TS005, and a rear brake cap, the TS013, round out what Accossato offers for this particular Daytona.
Road Approval
Accossato has sent us no test or approval paperwork for the FP004, so it is offered for racing and closed-course use rather than German road use.
