DescriptionThe whole story▼
When the Diavel arrived in 2011, it combined ideas nobody expected to see together: the stance of a cruiser, a very wide rear tyre and the performance of a sports bike. It has drawn looks ever since, and Diavel owners get used to people crouching beside the bike at a café stop to study the details. With the engine on show, even the small parts on it are part of the picture. For the Diavel of 2011 to 2018, including many of its special editions, Accossato lists the FP004, an M20x2.5 oil filler cap CNC-machined from aluminium and anodised.
Key Features
- Oil filler cap for the Ducati Diavel, 2011 to 2018
- Covers the Diavel 1200, the facelift version and special editions on Accossato's list
- Thread M20x2.5 according to Accossato
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised
- Eight colours: red, black, silver, titanium, gold, blue, orange, green
- Can be matched with Accossato's FP007 clutch master cylinder cover
- No German ABE on file; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato machines the FP004 from aluminium and colours it by anodising, so the finish is part of the metal instead of sitting on it as paint. Eight colours are available. On a Diavel, red is the obvious Ducati choice; black and titanium stay discreet, silver and gold add brightness, and blue, orange and green make a statement. The thread is M20x2.5. Accossato states that the cap fits the listed applications and can be adapted to other motorcycles with a cap of the same size.
Parked Where People Look
A Diavel rarely stands unnoticed. Park one outside a café and within minutes someone will walk around it, study the rear tyre, lean in towards the engine and ask a question or two. Owners know the bike is judged by its details, and small things reveal how it is kept: an oily film around the filler, a scratched cap, a dull patch where a cleaning product was left to dry. Keeping the filler area clean is part of looking after the engine as well. Open the cap only with the engine off and cooled, check the level the way the owner's manual describes, and wipe the thread and the sealing face before the cap goes back in. Turn it by hand until it seats and leave it there; a cap forced in with pliers keeps the marks for everyone to see. If you add oil, use a funnel and a rag, so no drop runs down the crankcase and collects road dust. The FP004 and the FP007 clutch cover can be ordered in the same colour, which ties engine and handlebar together visually. Then the only thing left to explain at the café is the Diavel itself.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list covers the Diavel 1200 from 2011 to 2013, the facelifted Diavel 1200 of 2015 to 2018 and a series of special editions: the Strada and the White Stripe of 2013 and 2014, the AMG and the Cromo of 2013, the Titanium of 2015 and the Diesel of 2017. For a standard Diavel from 2014 the list shows no separate entry, so compare the thread of your original cap first. The FP004 has an M20x2.5 thread, and Accossato adds that it can be adapted to other motorcycles with the same cap size. At Inter-Pace it is also listed for the Diavel Carbon, the Monster 821 and the Hypermotard 939.
Road Approval
The FP004 is not covered by an ABE or a test mark in our records, so we list it for racing and competition purposes.
