DescriptionThe whole story▼
The GSX-R 750 has been part of Suzuki's sportsbike range since 2004, a middleweight built for quick, confidence-inspiring handling. Accossato builds the FP001 oil filler cap for it from CNC-machined aluminium, anodised in eight colours, with an M20x1.5 thread stated by the maker.
Key Features
- Oil filler cap for the Suzuki GSX-R 750, 2004 to 2017
- M20x1.5 thread, as given by Accossato
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised rather than painted
- Eight colours: orange, blue, green, black, red, silver, titanium, gold
- Also suits other machines sharing the same filler size
- TS005 front brake and TS013 rear brake fluid reservoir caps listed for the same GSX-R
- Replaces an original cap dulled by years of fuel stops
- No German ABE on file; built for track and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
The FP001 is machined from a block of aluminium and then anodised, which puts the colour into the surface of the metal instead of coating it afterwards. Accossato gives the M20x1.5 thread as the only measurement and says the cap fits the GSX-R 750 and the rest of its application list, as well as other motorcycles with that same filler size. Black, titanium and silver keep the look close to the GSX-R 750's usual colours, while the brighter shades give the engine a detail that stands out in a paddock full of similar sportsbikes.
Looking After the Engine on a Mid-Range Sportsbike
The GSX-R 750 rewards the same basic care as any sportsbike engine, and the oil filler is where that care starts. Open it only with the engine stopped and properly cooled, having already checked the level the way the manual describes with the bike held level. Clear the area around the opening of any grit before removing the cap, since whatever is sitting there goes straight into the oil the moment the cap lifts, and look over the thread and sealing face on both parts. Top up gradually, checking as you go, then seat the FP001 by hand until it stops turning easily and leave it there; tightening further only makes it harder to shift at the next service. A look at the filler after the next ride confirms everything has stayed dry.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list places the FP001 on the GSX-R 750 for its full 2004 to 2017 run, and the same cap also covers the Aprilia Caponord 1200 and Caponord 1200 Rally, the Aprilia Dorsoduro range and the Benelli Leoncino 500, among other bikes sharing the M20x1.5 size; the exact model is worth checking before ordering. The TS005 front brake and TS013 rear brake fluid reservoir caps are also listed for this GSX-R 750.
Road Approval
Accossato has sent us no test or approval documents for the FP001, so it is offered for racing and closed-course use rather than German road use.
