DescriptionThe whole story▼
Suzuki built the GSX-R 600 from 2004 to 2017 as a middleweight sportsbike, bought as much for its lighter, flickable handling as for outright speed. An engine that size still needs its oil topped up by hand at the filler, and that is where Accossato's FP001 sits: an M20x1.5 cap, CNC-machined from aluminium and anodised in eight colours.
Key Features
- Oil filler cap for the Suzuki GSX-R 600, 2004 to 2017
- M20x1.5 thread, the size Accossato states
- CNC-machined aluminium with an anodised finish
- Eight colours: orange, blue, green, black, red, silver, titanium, gold
- Also fits other motorcycles with the same filler thread
- TS005 front brake and TS013 rear brake fluid reservoir caps listed for the same GSX-R
- A tidy way to mark out a 600 among a sea of identical ones
- No German ABE on file; intended for track and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato starts with a solid piece of aluminium, shapes the FP001 on CNC machines and finishes it by anodising, so the colour lives in the surface of the metal rather than as a separate coat. The one figure given is the M20x1.5 thread; past that, Accossato simply says the cap suits the GSX-R 600 and the rest of its list, plus any other bike built around the same filler size. A rider happy with the stock look can pick titanium, black or silver, while orange, red, blue, green or gold break up a 600 that otherwise looks much like every other one on the grid.
Why the Filler Cap Matters on a 600
A middleweight sportsbike like the GSX-R 600 rewards owners who look after the small jobs themselves, and the filler is usually the easiest of them. Make sure the engine has cooled fully before opening it, and read the level first, exactly as the handbook sets out with the bike upright. Clear any dirt from around the opening before the cap comes off, since whatever sits there drops straight into the engine otherwise, and give the thread and sealing face a look on both the cap and the housing. Pour oil in stages, checking the level each time, and seat the FP001 by hand only as far as it naturally goes; pushing it tighter does nothing for the seal and only costs effort later. Once the bike has done a few miles, check back at the filler for any sign of seepage.
Fitment and Compatibility
Suzuki's GSX-R 600 carries the FP001 across its whole 2004 to 2017 run on Accossato's list, which also names the Aprilia Dorsoduro 750, 900 and 1200 and the Aprilia Shiver 750 and 900 for the identical filler size; confirming the exact model before ordering is still worth doing. The same list places the TS005 front brake and TS013 rear brake fluid reservoir caps on this GSX-R as well, leaving room for a full matching set across the bike.
Road Approval
No test or approval paperwork for the FP001 has reached us from Accossato, so this cap is sold for racing and closed-course riding, not German road use.
