DescriptionThe whole story▼
In 2017 the Dorsoduro 900 took over from the 750, with a larger version of Aprilia's V-twin and a colour display in the cockpit. The character stayed the same: a supermoto-styled bike for short, lively rides, often on hot summer afternoons when the engine is working hard in slow traffic and on twisty roads. Accossato's FP001, an oil filler cap CNC-machined from aluminium, anodised and cut with an M20x1.5 thread, is listed for the Dorsoduro 900 of 2017 and 2018.
Key Features
- Oil filler cap for the Aprilia Dorsoduro 900, 2017 and 2018
- Includes the Euro 4 version with ABS of 2018
- M20x1.5 thread as stated by Accossato
- Aluminium, CNC-machined, with anodised colour
- Eight colours: green, gold, silver, red, black, blue, orange, titanium
- Usable on other motorcycles with the same cap size after checking
- No German ABE documented; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Dorsoduro 900 owners can pick the FP001 in eight anodised finishes: green, gold, silver, red, black, blue, orange or titanium. Behind the colour is aluminium worked on CNC machines; the anodising comes afterwards and becomes part of the surface. Accossato specifies an M20x1.5 thread and describes the cap as adaptable, so besides the models on its list it can go onto other bikes whose filler has that size. A clean thread and a clean sealing face are all it needs to go in smoothly every time.
Let the Twin Cool First
After a hot ride it is tempting to check the oil straight away, while you are still standing next to the bike. Resist it. The engine of the Dorsoduro 900 and the oil inside stay hot for a good while after the key is turned off, and a filler cap is never to be opened on a hot engine. Give it time, ideally until the next morning, and read the level the way the Dorsoduro 900's handbook prescribes, with the bike positioned as it instructs. The reading is also more reliable that way. If you need to top up, clean the area around the filler first, pour slowly and read the level again before adding more. Screw the FP001 home with your fingers only; tightening it with force does not help the seal and makes it harder to open next time. On the first ride after any top-up, pull over after a few minutes and inspect the area below the filler for any trace of oil.
Fitment and Compatibility
The application list covers the Dorsoduro 900 of 2017 and its Euro 4 successor with ABS from 2018. Our range includes the same cap for the Dorsoduro 750, the Shiver 900 and the Benelli BN302. Two brake reservoir caps complete Accossato's offer for this model, the TS004 at the front and the TS013 at the rear. Check your Dorsoduro against the list before you order, and if the original cap has already been replaced, confirm that the thread is M20x1.5.
Road Approval
The FP001 comes without a German ABE or any test certificate that we could present, so we list it for motorsport use on closed circuits.
