DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Yamaha YZ125 keeps its two-stroke motocross following thanks to a simple, light package, and that simplicity still involves taking the rear wheel off after any heavy fall to check nothing was bent or knocked loose. Accossato lists its Offroad Rear Wheel Spacer, known in Italy as the Distanziali ruota posteriore, for the YZ125 built from 2003 to 2019, in blue or silver, sitting either side of the rear hub on the rear axle.
Key Features
- Rear wheel spacers for the Yamaha YZ125, model years 2003 to 2019
- Accossato code DSY01, a pair fitted left and right of the rear hub
- Available in blue or silver
- Sit on the rear axle, between the hub and the swingarm, holding the wheel laterally
- Same part also listed by Accossato for the Yamaha WR250F, WR450F and YZ250
- Accossato also offers the LC022 launch control fork holder for this bike
- No German ABE on file; built for off-road and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's paperwork on the DSY01 stops at the vehicle, the build years and the colour on offer for the YZ125; material and dimensions are left unstated, though the identical spacer set turns up again under the WR250F, the WR450F and the YZ250. Blue and silver are colour choices only, with no effect on how the spacers hold the wheel square. A spacer bent in a crash, or one that has simply gone missing since the last wheel change, should be replaced before the bike is used again.
Back in the Workshop After a Fall
A hard fall on the YZ125 often means a trip back to the workshop before the next session, if only to check the wheel still spins freely and nothing at the rear end has shifted. Pulling the rear wheel for that inspection is the point where a bent or dislodged spacer usually turns up, having taken part of the impact that would otherwise have gone straight into the hub or the axle. Riders doing this kind of post-crash check are usually better off replacing both spacers together rather than keeping one that looks fine next to a damaged one, since a spacer that is slightly out of shape is not always obvious without comparing it side by side with a new part. Getting this right before the bike goes back out avoids a wheel that is subtly out of alignment on the next ride.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the DSY01 for the YZ125 across 2003 to 2019, matching the years used here, sharing the part with the WR250F, the WR450F and the YZ250. The LC022 launch control fork holder is also listed for this bike, for riders refreshing the start end at the same time. Checking the YZ125's exact build date against Accossato's application list before ordering remains worth doing given how long this model has been in production.
Road Approval
No German ABE is on file for the DSY01, so Accossato lists it for off-road and competition use only; it is not intended for road-registered motorcycles.
