DescriptionThe whole story▼
A cross-country race keeps a CRF450RX on the throttle for far longer than a single motocross moto, and a chain spends that whole stretch stretching fractionally under load before it finally needs attention. Accossato's RCH2 gives the CRF450RX, built for 2017, a pair of rear axle blocks with an adjusting screw in each one, so that stretch can be taken up without pulling the bike off the trail for longer than a quick stop allows.
Key Features
- Rear axle blocks for the Honda CRF450RX, model year 2017
- Accossato code RCH2, supplied as a pair, left and right
- Each block carries its own adjusting screw for chain tension
- Black, red or silver
- Same pair also listed for the Honda CRF250R and CRF450R
- Accossato also lists a version without the adjusting screw, RTH3, for this bike
- No German ABE on file; built for off-road and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Each RCH2 block sits in the stock position at the swingarm end and carries its own screw, letting tension be set from the same point on both sides without a separate tool. Accossato offers the pair in black, red or silver, a choice made to suit the rest of the bike rather than for any practical difference. A long cross-country race run through rough, root-covered ground is hard on these blocks in a way a short moto is not, so checking them over after a big ride is worth the few minutes it takes.
Chain Stretch Over a Long Moto
Where a motocross moto lasts perhaps half an hour, a cross-country race on a CRF450RX can run for several hours at a stretch, and a chain under that kind of sustained load works itself a little looser than it would after a short session. Riders who notice the chain hanging slightly slacker at a fuel stop, or after a long transfer section, appreciate being able to take up that slack with a screw built into the block rather than wrestling with a seized axle nut at the side of the trail. Turning both screws the same small amount keeps the wheel tracking straight even when the adjustment is done quickly and without the bike on a stand. Over a full day of racing, that one small habit, repeated as needed, keeps the chain from working itself loose enough to become a real problem.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application list names only the 2017 model year for the CRF450RX, a short run specific to this version of the bike. The same blocks are shared with the CRF450R and the CRF250R, both of which use the identical swingarm fitting. A version of this part without the adjusting screw, listed under the code RTH3, mounts in the same place for riders who would rather set tension the stock way.
Road Approval
Accossato has no German ABE on file for the RCH2, so the blocks are intended for off-road and competition use rather than for use on public roads.
