DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Honda CRF230F has taught a great many people to ride off-road. The air-cooled trail bike is gentle, predictable and forgiving, which is why it turns up so often with teenagers moving up from a small bike, with adults who started late and with families who share one machine. Sooner or later every one of those riders has to learn to stand on the pegs. Accossato makes enlarged footpegs in Ergal for the CRF230F of 2003 to 2019, and there are five colours to pick from.
Key Features
- Enlarged Accossato footpegs for the Honda CRF230F, 2003 to 2019
- Ergal, a high-strength aluminium alloy
- Broader base for feet that are still learning to stand
- Intended for motocross, enduro and off-road motorcycles
- Orange, blue, black, red or Titanium
- Pair for the left and right side
- No German ABE on file; for off-road competition
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato, an Italian company with an enduro world title from 1985 in its history, describes the part simply: enlarged footpegs made of Ergal, for motocross, enduro and off-road motorcycles. Ergal is a high-strength aluminium alloy. A larger peg leaves the boot of a small or inexperienced rider more room to find its place, which is useful on a bike that so often serves as a training ground. The set is a pair, left and right, and the colour is yours to choose: orange, blue, black, red or Titanium.
Teaching a New Rider to Stand
Young riders tend to sit. It feels safer, the ground seems closer, and standing on a moving motorcycle feels unnatural at first. The way to change that is gradual. Start on flat, open ground at walking pace and ask the rider to stand for a count of ten, then sit, then stand again: feet level on the pegs, knees slightly bent and touching the tank, head up and eyes forward. Once that feels normal, add gentle turns, then a small bump or a shallow ditch, always standing.
On a CRF230F the soft power helps a great deal, because a nervous hand on the throttle does not send the bike leaping forward. The pegs matter too. Riders with small feet, or with boots that are still new and stiff, often feel the peg as a narrow bar under the sole and put a foot down at the first wobble. A broader surface makes standing feel more secure, and that makes it easier to keep practising. Praise every bit of progress, keep the sessions short and stop before the rider gets tired.
Fitment and Compatibility
The CRF230F appears in Accossato's list from 2003 to 2019, and the set is linked to those years in our shop. No other Accossato footpeg is listed for this bike. Among the other Hondas that take the same pair are the CRF250X, the CRF450R and the CRF450X. When fitting, clean and lightly grease the pivot and reuse the original springs if they still pull firmly. Then check that a young rider can still reach the brake pedal and gear lever comfortably with the new pegs in place.
Road Approval
No ABE and no other approval document is available to us for these pegs. They are sold for off-road competition use.
