DescriptionThe whole story▼
Plenty of BMW F 700 GS owners bought the bike for tarmac and only later began to wonder where the gravel tracks lead. That curiosity often ends in an off-road training day, and the first lesson on such a day hardly ever changes: stand up. For the F 700 GS of 2013 to 2017, Accossato offers enlarged footpegs made of Ergal, a high-strength aluminium alloy, intended for motocross, enduro and off-road riding. They give the boots a broader place to stand and come in green or black.
Key Features
- Enlarged off-road footpegs for the BMW F 700 GS, model years 2013 to 2017
- Made of Ergal, a high-strength aluminium alloy
- Broader platform for the boot than the standard pegs
- Designed by Accossato for motocross, enduro and off-road use
- Colour options: green or black
- Supplied as a pair, one peg for each side
- No German ABE on file; offered for competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's own description of the part is a single line: pedane maggiorate, realizzate in ergal, per moto da cross, enduro e fuori strada. Put into English, these are enlarged footpegs made of Ergal for motocross, enduro and off-road motorcycles. Ergal is a high-strength aluminium alloy. Maggiorate means larger than standard, so more of the sole rests on the peg once the rider is up on the F 700 GS. The set is a pair, left and right, and the only decision to make is the colour, green or black. Accossato publishes nothing more about the design, and we do not add to it.
The First Morning of an Off-Road Course
Instructors tend to begin in the same way. Before anyone tackles a slope or a rut, the group practises the standing position on flat ground: feet level on the pegs, knees slightly bent and resting against the tank, hips above the feet, elbows raised and a loose hold on the grips. The idea is to put the rider's weight into the motorcycle as low as possible, through the footpegs rather than the seat or the handlebar. On a twin the size of the F 700 GS this matters, because the bike can then move beneath the rider over ruts and stones while the legs, not the arms, deal with the motion.
Newcomers often find that standing tires the feet quickly, particularly in touring boots with soft soles, and they sit down again sooner than they should. A broader peg does not do the work for them, but it gives the sole more to press against while they are still learning to stay up for a whole exercise. The second lesson is just as simple and just as hard: look up, towards where the bike should go, and not at the ground in front of the wheel.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists this set for the F 700 GS from 2013 to 2017, and we have linked it to exactly those years. No other Accossato footpegs are listed for the bike, and the same pair also appears in our shop for the F 800 GS, the F 850 GS and the R 1250 GS. During fitting, clean the pivot, give it a little grease and reuse the original pins and springs if they are in good condition. Afterwards, make sure each peg folds up and returns on its own, and that the gear lever and brake pedal are still where your boots expect them.
Road Approval
We have no test report or approval document, such as a German ABE, for these footpegs, so we offer them for racing and competition use.
