DescriptionThe whole story▼
This is the STMX rear pad from Accossato for the KTM 790 Adventure R, 2019 and 2020. STMX is Accossato's Off-road sintered mix, which the maker describes as its compound for off-road riders. The Adventure R is arguably the most off-road-capable version of the 790, with long-travel suspension and a rally-inspired stance. STMX suits owners who use it for its intended purpose: adventure rallies, desert tracks, hard enduro-style trails and long days in sand, mud and rocks.
Key Features
- STMX mix for the rear caliper of the 790 Adventure R
- Listed for the 2019 and 2020 Adventure R
- Accossato's compound for off-road riders
- For rallies, desert tracks and hard trails
- Built to resist fading on long descents
- Single rear caliper, one box
- The rear pad also comes in OR, ST and EV1
Construction and Material Quality
STMX was developed by Accossato specifically for off-road riding. Its friction face is bonded to a backing plate shaped for the Adventure R's rear caliper, and it shares the range's aims of strong stopping, slow wear and heat control.
Adventure Rallies
Adventure rallies send riders through hundreds of kilometres of dirt over several days, with navigation, sand, rocks and river crossings. The rear brake on an Adventure R works almost constantly in those conditions. STMX is designed for that. For tarmac-heavy use or wet-weather touring, ST is more suitable, and OR suits relaxed riding.
Rally Routine
Each evening, check pad thickness, clean dust from the caliper and inspect the disc. Carry a spare set in the tool pack, and remember that pads wear faster in sand than on almost any other surface. Dust can also dry out the caliper seals, so a brief wipe of the pistons before pushing them back is worth the time. After fitting a fresh pair, a few firm stops on the next liaison stage are enough to bed them in.
Fitment and Compatibility
In our listing this pad covers the KTM 790 Adventure R, 2019 to 2020. Accossato refers to the ADVENTURE 790 R and ADVENTURE 790 R RALLY for the rear. One box renews the single rear caliper. At the front, Accossato offers AGPA96, needed twice.
Road Approval
This rear pad is offered for racing and competition, since no German ABE or test papers are available to us.
Scope of Delivery
Two STMX rear pads for the KTM 790 Adventure R, supplied in one box.
