DescriptionThe whole story▼
In an enduro race, the rear brake of a KTM 250 EXC-F is used on almost every metre of the special tests: scrubbing speed into ruts, holding the bike on steep drops and helping it turn in deep sand. For racers of the 2006 to 2023 models, Accossato offers the AGPP80 rear pad in its Off-road sintered compound, STMX. The maker calls it its compound for off-road riders, which makes it the natural rear pad for race days in mud, sand and dust.
Key Features
- STMX rear pads, AGPP80STMX
- KTM 250 EXC-F, model years 2006 to 2023
- Accossato's compound for off-road riders
- For special tests in mud, sand and dust
- Helps the bike turn in ruts and sand
- One box for the rear caliper
- No ABE; off-road competition
Construction and Material Quality
The only statement Accossato makes about STMX is that it is designed for off-road riders. We leave it there. The brand's general claims, that its pads keep heat low, fade less and wear slowly, apply as well. The friction face is bonded to the AGPP80 plate, so the rear caliper takes it without modification.
Ruts, Sand and Steep Drops
In deep ruts and sandy turns, the rear brake helps the bike pivot and settle into the line. A short dab before the corner can make the difference between hitting the rut cleanly and bouncing out of it. On steep drops, steady rear pressure keeps the bike controlled while the front stays light. All of this demands a rear pad that grips reliably when the disc is dirty or wet.
After a race, the rear caliper needs attention. Wash out the mud and sand, check that the pads slide freely, and look for stones lodged between pad and disc. At the next change, clean the piston before pushing it back, inspect the disc for grooves and pump the pedal until it is firm.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato names this AGPP80 for the rear caliper of the KTM 250 EXC-F across 2006 to 2023. The front of the bike takes the Accossato AGPA29, and the discs DK017, DK018 and DK259 are catalogued for it as well. The AGPP80 is also available as OR and ST.
Road Approval
These STMX rear pads have no ABE in our records and are intended for enduro competition.
