DescriptionThe whole story▼
Some ruts never dry out. A woodland track that has carried machines all winter fills with brown water, and a GasGas EC 300 of 2012 to 2020 goes through it with the rear wheel submerged to the axle and the caliper running as a boat propeller. What comes out the other side is not a brake in any normal sense until the pedal has been used once or twice. Accossato presses the AGPP106 rear pad in its Off-road sintered material, article AGPP106STMX, and offers the mixture to riders whose ground looks exactly like that.
Key Features
- Rear brake pads for the GasGas EC 300 of the 2012 to 2020 seasons
- Article AGPP106STMX: the AGPP106 plate with the STMX material
- Accossato addresses the version to riders working off the road
- For flooded ruts, bog crossings and deep winter woodland
- Listed for the XC 300 of 2018 and 2019 as well
- One rear caliper, so one box does the whole wheel
- OR and ST are the other materials on this plate
- No German ABE recorded here; a competition article
Construction and Material Quality
Rather than reciting numbers, Accossato simply says who this mixture is for, and a rider who spends winters in the woods can read the rest. Under water the disc and the plates are separated by whatever the rut was carrying, and the film reforms every few metres, so the brake is never dealing with two clean faces. That is a fundamentally different working life from a dry surface that stays as it was. The carrier is the standard AGPP106 plate shared with the other versions of the article, which means the choice of material never becomes a question of whether the pad will sit properly in the rear caliper of an EC 300.
A Caliper That Spends the Day Under Water
Deep water does two things at once. It cools the brake to the temperature of the rut, and it fills the space around the plates with silt that has to be wiped away by the first few applications. Riders who know a flooded section will drag the pedal lightly as they climb out of it, clearing the faces before the next turn asks for anything real. Doing that as a reflex is worth more than any amount of force in reserve.
Water also gets into places that matter later. It sits behind the plates, works its way along the pedal pivot and, over a winter, will find a tired piston seal. After a wet ride, rinse gently, then ride the bike a short distance with light use of the pedal so the heat drives the moisture out. Grease the pedal pivot occasionally, look for rust staining around the caliper mouth, and if the pedal has begun to feel spongy after months of cold water, put fresh fluid through the system before the next season starts.
Fitment and Compatibility
The rear listing covers the EC 300 from 2012 to 2020, with the XC 300 of 2018 and 2019 included on the same article. The 2021 machine is an entirely different motorcycle and is served at the rear by the AGPP80. Front pads for these older 300s appear under two numbers, the AGPA29 from 1999 onwards and the AGPA51 for the years 2000 to 2020, so the part that comes out is the safest guide. Accossato also catalogues two discs for the model, the DK018 and the DK259.
Road Approval
We have no ABE for the AGPP106STMX and no German examination report, so the set is supplied for off-road and competition riding.
