DescriptionThe whole story▼
A club enduro is won and lost in the service area as much as on the course. Between laps a rider has a few minutes, a bottle of fuel and a helper with cold hands, and everything that gets checked in that window has to be worth the time. Rear pads are on the list, because the GasGas EC 250 of 2021 to 2023 runs a small rear caliper that lives in the spray from the back wheel. Accossato's AGPP80 is the article for those bikes, and AGPP80STMX is the version pressed in its Off-road sintered material for riders who work in the wet and the loose.
Key Features
- Rear brake pads for the GasGas EC 250 of 2021 to 2023
- Article AGPP80STMX: the AGPP80 plate carrying the STMX material
- The mixture Accossato puts forward for off-road riders
- Meant for mud, sand and water, not for dry asphalt
- Only the current generation; the 2020 bike takes a different plate
- Two plates per box, which is what one rear caliper needs
- OR and ST are the alternatives on the identical carrier
- No ABE documented here; a competition article
Construction and Material Quality
There is no list of properties attached to this version, only a statement of who it is meant for, and in practice that tells an off-road rider plenty. Away from the road the brake works through whatever is currently between the plate and the disc, and that changes from grit to slurry to clean water within a single lap. A material shaped around those conditions is answering a different question from one shaped around warm, dry surfaces. The carrier is the standard AGPP80 plate that all three versions of the article share, so a rider swapping between materials over a season never has to think about whether the new set will drop in.
Two Minutes at the Service Point
Mid-race checks go quickest when they follow the same order every time. Look at the front plates through the caliper mouth, then crouch at the rear where the view is worse and the wear is faster, and use a torch rather than a thumb. A pad that looked healthy at scrutineering can be close to its backing by the last lap of a wet event, and the rear of an EC 250 is where that surprise usually happens.
The rest of the routine is ordinary but easy to skip when the clock is running. Pull the mud out of the pedal linkage so that the brake can release fully. Feel whether the pedal has gone long, which points at fluid rather than at friction material. Check that the disc is not carrying a stone at its edge, an easy thing to collect on a rocky lap. If a set does need changing between laps, work the pedal until pressure returns before the bike leaves the area, because the first corner is no place to find an empty pedal.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the AGPP80 at the rear of the EC 250 for 2021, 2022 and 2023. The enduro built from 2012 to 2020 is a separate case and uses the AGPP106, so the two rear articles should never be ordered on the strength of the model name alone. At the front, the catalogue reaches back much further, with the AGPA29 from 1997 and the AGPA51 from 2000 to 2020 covering the older machines. A rear disc, the DK018, rounds out what Accossato offers for this GasGas, and one box of pads fills the single caliper at the back.
Road Approval
No German approval paperwork for the AGPP80STMX exists on our side, so we sell the set for racing and for closed ground.
Scope of Delivery
