DescriptionThe whole story▼
High summer turns an unsurfaced road into a cloud. The gravel is dry and loose, every machine leaves a plume behind it, and the dust settles on everything, brakes included. A Ducati Scrambler 1100 Sport ridden up a track like that to a viewpoint comes back down with a rear caliper full of it. The Off-road sintered material is the compound Accossato mixes for riders who go off road, and it is offered on the AGPP91 rear pad for the Sport across 2018 to 2024.
Key Features
- Rear pads for the Ducati Scrambler 1100 Sport in the STMX material, article AGPP91STMX
- Accossato's compound for riding away from tarmac, listed 2018 to 2024
- Covers the Sport and the Sport Pro of 2020 onwards
- For dry dust, loose stones and the grit they leave behind
- One box of two pads fills the rear caliper
- OR and ST are the road-going materials on the same plate
- Check and clean the rear brake after every dusty outing
- No German ABE recorded; competition and off-road use
Construction and Material Quality
The whole of Accossato's note on the STMX material concerns the rider it was drawn for, the one who leaves the road, and the working conditions fill in the rest. Dry dust is in some ways worse for a rear brake than mud, because it never washes itself away: it hangs in the air, settles on a hot disc and is drawn between the pads at every application. A material meant for that is the one to have when the surface is loose. The pad sits on the standard AGPP91 plate and goes into the rear caliper of a Scrambler 1100 Sport exactly as the road versions do, the box holding the pair the caliper needs.
A Dusty Climb and the Road Home
The climb is the easy part. Loose stones roll under the rear tyre, the bike squirms, the rider keeps a gear in hand, and the back brake is used lightly on the way up and steadily on the way back down, because a Scrambler 1100 Sport is too heavy to be slowed by the front wheel on gravel. The interesting part comes afterwards: twenty minutes later the same brake is back on tarmac at a proper speed with the dust of the whole track packed into the caliper. That is where a dirty brake announces itself, through a pedal that grinds or feels gritty rather than one that fails outright. Once you are home, take the wheel out if you have time, brush the dust from behind the pads and from around the caliper slides, and look at the disc face for the fine scoring that grit leaves. A quick rinse in the yard only moves dust from where you can see it to where you cannot.
Fitment and Compatibility
For the Scrambler 1100 Sport of 2018 to 2024, which becomes the Sport Pro in 2020, Accossato gives the AGPP91 as the rear pad, and the off-road material is one of three offered on it. The rear wheel has a single caliper, so a box is a complete change. Riders doing both ends need the AGPA177 for the front, in a quantity that depends on their own machine, and the DK008 and DKS053 are the discs Accossato lists for this Ducati.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE for the AGPP91STMX in our files and no other certificate, so the pads are sold for competition and for riding away from public roads.
Scope of Delivery
