Late summer turns a good unsurfaced road into a dust cloud. The track down to a lake or along a valley floor is dry, loose on top and firm underneath, and a heavy touring bike descends it on the rear brake for minutes at a stretch. Accossato makes an Off-road sintered material for conditions of that kind, and on the AGPA29 rear pad for the Ducati Multistrada 1260 it is sold as article AGPA29STMX. The listing covers the rear wheel from 2018 to 2021.

Construction and Material Quality
The description the factory provides is as short as the use is specific: this is the material made for riders who leave the road. On a 1260 that will not be every weekend, but the days it happens are the days a rear pad works continuously in an atmosphere full of grit. The STMX version sits on the same AGPA29 plate as the rest of the family, so an owner who keeps it for a particular trip changes nothing but the friction surface when the pads go in.
Dust on a Long, Dry Descent
A dry track is easier to ride than a wet one and harder on the brake. Fine dust hangs in the air, settles on the disc and works its way between the surfaces, and the rear brake does most of the work because the front wheel needs to be left alone to steer through the loose top layer. The pedal stays on for long stretches at low pressure, sometimes for a whole descent, which is not how a rear brake is used anywhere else.
What follows is a cleaning job rather than a repair. Dust that has been through a brake is abrasive and does not fall out by itself; it sits in the caliper and keeps grinding for as long as it is left there. Wash the rear of the Multistrada 1260 properly once you are back, check what is left of the pads with the wheel out, and look at the face of the disc as well, because a day of that can leave marks a road never would.
Fitment and Compatibility
Coverage for this rear article begins in 2018 and ends in 2021, and it applies to the 1260 at the back wheel, where one caliper means one box. The front of the same motorcycle appears in the catalogue under the AGPA106 for the 2018 season alone, a shorter listing than this one. The disc for the model is the DKS053. Because the same pad shapes serve several machines in this range, hold the old pad against the new one before you commit to fitting it.
Road Approval
There is no ABE for the AGPA29STMX in our files and no German test paperwork either, so the pads are supplied for competition and for use away from public roads.
