DescriptionThe whole story▼
Read down the materials Accossato offers for the AGPA292 rear pad and one of them looks like a misprint. Next to the road and racing options sits the firm's off-road choice, the compound it builds for riders who spend their weekends in mud, sand and dust. It is genuinely available on this plate, and the plate genuinely fits the rear of a BMW HP4 Race 1000 from 2017 or 2018. What follows is an honest account of what that material is, so you can decide whether it has any business on your bike.
Key Features
- Rear brake pads for the BMW HP4 Race 1000, 2017 and 2018
- Article number AGPA292STMX: the rear plate carrying the Off-road sintered (STMX) material
- The manufacturer describes this compound as the one made for riders who go off road
- Same plate, same fit in the caliper as the road and racing versions
- Two pads per box, which is the whole rear caliper
- The OR, ST and EV1 article numbers cover the same shape for tarmac riding
- The front wheel of this bike is served by the AGPA137
- No German ABE on file; competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato uses one plate per application and varies the surface on it, which is how a pad shape drawn for a racing BMW ends up available in a dirt material. The Off-road sintered (STMX) entry is aimed at enduro and motocross machines, where the enemy is not heat but everything the ground throws at the disc. Accossato's own words for it are plain enough: this is the compound for off-road riders. Fitting it changes nothing mechanical. The pad drops into the caliper exactly as its siblings do, two to a box, and the difference lives entirely in what meets the disc.
Where This Material Normally Lives
Picture the setting it was drawn for. A rear disc that has been through a river crossing twice before lunch, sand packed into the caliper, a pad face polished by grit rather than by heat, and a machine that gets pressure-washed at the end of the day whether it wants to be or not. Riders in that world judge a rear brake by whether it still answers after the third water splash, not by how it behaves on the eighth hot lap of a circuit. An HP4 Race 1000 lives at the opposite end of the sport. If you have this article number in front of you because it was the one in stock, it is worth knowing what it was built around. Accossato's road and racing materials on the same plate are the ones drawn for a dry, hot, clean rear disc.
Fitment and Compatibility
Mechanically the story is simple: the AGPA292 shape is catalogued for the rear of the HP4 Race 1000 built in 2017 and 2018, and this article number carries that shape. One caliper at the back means one box per change, with both pads replaced at once. Three further materials cover the same plate for tarmac use, and the front wheel takes the AGPA137 across the identical years. No Accossato brake disc is listed for this bike.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE and no test document in our hands for the AGPA292STMX. We therefore offer it for competition use only, which on a machine delivered without lights or a plate is the only use it was ever going to see.
Scope of Delivery
One box containing two AGPA292 pads in the off-road material, the pair that fills the rear caliper.
