DescriptionThe whole story▼
Nobody buys an F900XR to ride down a track, and yet the track turns up: a gravel link road between two passes, a stony lane to the cottage that was booked online, the last part of a route that the map showed as a road. Loose ground moves the braking work to the back wheel and brings dust and grit with it. Accossato's off-road sintered (STMX) material in the AGPP91 rear pad is mixed for exactly those conditions, and the BMW F900XR of 2020 to 2026 is on the list for it.
Key Features
- AGPP91STMX rear pads in Accossato's material for unsurfaced ground
- BMW F900XR, model years 2020 to 2026, rear wheel
- Developed for riders who leave the tarmac behind
- Made with dust, grit and water in mind rather than daily commuting
- Two pads in a box, the supply for one rear caliper
- Road-minded versions of the same outline exist for machines that stay on asphalt
- Front brake of this bike: the AGPA177 pad, model years 2020 to 2026
- No approval papers available; for competition and unsurfaced going
Construction and Material Quality
Three materials share this pad outline and the STMX is the one sent away from asphalt, described by its maker in a single phrase as the compound for riders who go off-road. We will not build chemistry around a sentence that short. What such a choice really answers is contamination rather than heat, because on loose ground the tyre gives up long before the friction material runs out of grip, and the useful quality is a face that carries on working while dust and water travel through the caliper with it. A sports tourer is plainly not the machine the mixture was drawn for; the shape nonetheless fits, and some roads are rougher than the map suggested. Two pads to a box.
The Unmade Road You Did Not Plan For
A surfaced road tells you in advance what it will give you; a gravel one does not. Since an F900XR is a substantial machine on tyres cut for asphalt, the sensible plan is to arrive slowly rather than to slow cleverly. Pick a low gear early and let the engine hold the pace, apply the pedal as one long light pressure instead of a series of jabs, keep the bike as upright as the ruts allow, and finish anything that counts as real slowing while the good surface is still underneath you.
What happens afterwards matters as much as the technique. Dirt that has worked its way behind a pad stops it lying flat, so once a dusty outing is over it is worth lifting the pads out, clearing the carriage they sit in and studying the face of the disc for fresh scoring rather than only measuring what remains. A soft brush and a gentle flow of water lift the worst of it without pushing grit into the seals. On a long trip away from help, a second set in the luggage is cheap insurance, since an afternoon in sand can take more off a pad than a season of town riding.
Fitment and Compatibility
The application data puts the AGPP91 at the rear wheel of the BMW F900XR from 2020, the model's first season, through to 2026. A single caliper works that wheel, so one box finishes the job, and the two pads inside belong on the bike as a pair. Up front the AGPA177 pad covers the identical run of years. This is also one of the rare models for which Accossato catalogues discs of its own, the DK006 and the DK007, should the originals have reached the end of their service.
Road Approval
An approval document for this article number has never been supplied to us, nor has a German ABE been issued for it. We offer the AGPP91STMX for competition and riding away from public roads.
Scope of Delivery
Two AGPP91 pads in the STMX compound, packed as the set for a single rear caliper.
