DescriptionThe whole story▼
Some of the most rewarding routes through a mountain range were never surfaced at all, and a fair number of them are perfectly rideable on a road bike taken slowly. Anybody who makes a habit of that finds out quickly which parts of the machine object to dust. Accossato's Off-road sintered (STMX) compound is its answer for surfaces of that sort, and this article number carries it on the AGPP91 rear pad of the BMW F 800 R of 2009 to 2018.
Key Features
- Rear pads in the Off-road sintered (STMX) compound, article number AGPP91STMX
- For the BMW F 800 R, model years 2009 to 2018
- The material Accossato builds for riders who leave the asphalt
- Drawn for dust, gravel and loose ground rather than for heat
- Two pads per box, which fills the single rear caliper
- Asphalt alternatives on the same plate: OR and ST
- Front pads for this model appear under AGPA177 from 2015
- No German ABE in our records; competition and off-road use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato describes this mixture as the one for riders who go off the road, and it is pressed onto the same AGPP91 plate as the firm's asphalt materials. Loose ground treats a brake quite differently from tarmac. Dust works its way between pad and disc and grinds at both, a stream crossing chills a hot brake in a moment, and the pedal is in use far more of the time because the front wheel cannot be trusted with as much of the work. That is a wear problem rather than a heat problem, and this material is aimed at it. A box contains two pads, the pair the single rear caliper takes.
Dust on an Unsurfaced Pass
The surface of a gravel road changes every few metres: a hard-packed stretch, then loose stones, then a washboard of ruts where somebody's tractor has been. A roadster such as the F 800 R will go along all of it if the rider is patient, keeps the speed modest and does most of the slowing with the pedal, which is what everyone ends up doing once the front wheel has slid a couple of times. The consequence is a rear brake working almost continuously in the dirtiest air the bike will ever meet. By the time you reach tarmac again everything back there is coated. Rinse it off before the next shower turns that dust into something closer to grinding paste, make sure the pedal has its full free movement, and look at how much material is left before planning another day of the same.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the AGPP91 at the rear of the BMW F 800 R from 2009 to 2018. There is one caliper back there and one box covers it with two pads, both fitted at the same time. Riders who stay on asphalt will find the identical plate with OR and ST material instead; at the front the AGPA177 covers 2015 to 2018, and the DK006 and DK007 discs complete Accossato's entry for this bike. Bear in mind that a compound drawn for loose ground is a deliberate choice on a road machine rather than an upgrade over the other two.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no approval paperwork of any kind exist for the AGPP91STMX in our records, which is why we sell it for competition and for riding away from public roads.
Scope of Delivery
A box of two AGPP91 pads in the STMX compound, enough for the rear caliper.
