DescriptionThe whole story▼
Accossato does not limit a material to one kind of bike, so the off-road sintered (STMX) version of the AGPP91 appears in the listing for the Aprilia Dorsoduro 900 of 2018 to 2020 alongside the road ones. Whether it is the right choice depends entirely on where the bike goes. For a Dorsoduro that only ever meets asphalt it is the wrong tool; for one that regularly turns down a gravel lane, crosses a field to a campsite or spends days on dusty tracks, it is the material mixed for exactly that.
Key Features
- STMX rear pads for the Aprilia Dorsoduro 900, article number AGPP91STMX
- Model years 2018 to 2020, rear wheel, one caliper
- Accossato mixes this material for riding away from surfaced roads
- Two pads in the box, which is the complete caliper set
- Road riders are better served by the OR or ST version of the same shape
- Front pads for this bike: AGPA101, a box for each of the two calipers
- Accossato builds its brake components at Villastellone near Turin
- No German ABE on record; for off-road and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
The three fillings available in the AGPP91 outline cover three different worlds, and this is the one pointed at dirt. Accossato, whose plant stands at Villastellone just south of Turin, describes it simply as the compound for off-road riders, without further detail about what goes into it. What the description implies is a material expected to work while covered in dust, doused with water and scrubbed by sand, rather than one optimised for a clean disc. Two pads come in the box and they fill the single rear caliper.
Choosing an Off-Road Material for a Road Bike
Being honest about this choice saves disappointment. A material developed for dirt is not a step up from a road material; it is a sideways move, made for conditions in which grit and water are constant and a clean, hot disc is rare. If your Dorsoduro 900 spends its life on tarmac, one of the other two versions will serve you better and last longer. If, on the other hand, the bike is used the way its motard shape suggests, on gravel lanes and forest tracks, then this material is at home. In that case treat the whole rear brake as a consumable. Rinse the caliper with flowing water after dusty or muddy days, look at the remaining thickness after each outing rather than at service intervals, and clean the pistons carefully before pushing them back when the time comes.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato assigns this pad to the rear wheel of the Dorsoduro 900 for 2018 to 2020, where a single box does the job. The alternatives in the same outline are the OR material for gentle road use and the ST material for wet weather. The front wheel of the bike takes the AGPA101 pad across the same years, with one box required per caliper, and the DKS032 floating disc is also listed for this model.
Road Approval
We have received no approval certificate and no German ABE for the AGPP91STMX. It is sold for off-road riding and competition, which matches the purpose the material was mixed for.
Scope of Delivery
Two AGPP91 rear pads in the STMX material, delivered in one box as a complete caliper set.
