DescriptionThe whole story▼
Forestry roads have a way of appearing at the end of a good day. The tarmac stops, a white gravel track carries on towards a hut or a viewpoint, and a Caponord 1200 will happily take it at a sensible pace. Loose surfaces change how the bike is braked, and the rear brake does far more of the work than it ever does on asphalt. For that use Accossato offers the AGPP91 in its off-road sintered (STMX) compound, listed for the Aprilia Caponord 1200 of 2013 to 2019.
Key Features
- Rear pads in the STMX compound, ordered as AGPP91STMX
- Aprilia Caponord 1200, model years 2013 to 2019, rear wheel
- Accossato developed this material for riders who leave the tarmac
- Application list includes the Travel Pack version from 2016 onwards
- Two pads per box, filling the single rear caliper
- Same shape available in the OR and ST versions for road use
- AGPA177 is the matching front pad for this bike
- No German ABE on record; for competition and off-road riding
Construction and Material Quality
Of the three materials pressed into the AGPP91 shape, this is the one Accossato points at dirt. The company describes it as its compound for off-road riders, which says less about chemistry than about the conditions it expects: dust drawn into the caliper, water thrown up by a crossing, mud that dries hard between pad and disc. High stopping power is the property Accossato claims for it. Two pads travel in the box and they go into one caliper, the only one the rear wheel has.
Where the Tarmac Ends
On gravel the front brake loses much of its authority, so riders slow the bike with the engine and the rear pedal, standing on the pegs with their weight back. That habit puts constant, moderate pressure through the rear pads while abrasive dust circles around them, which is a different kind of wear from anything a road ride produces. Two things follow. Pads disappear faster than the calendar suggests, so check the remaining thickness after a trip rather than after a season, and grit needs washing out before it dries into a paste. Rinse the rear wheel and caliper with flowing water once you are home, let everything dry, then take the bike round the block and use the pedal gently a few times so the surfaces mate again after their soaking.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato names the Caponord 1200 of 2013 to 2019 for this rear pad, the ETV 1200 Caponord along with the Travel Pack version from 2016. One box does the whole rear wheel. If your Caponord never sees a gravel track, the OR and ST materials in the same shape will suit it better. The front of the bike is covered by the AGPA177 pad across the same model years, and by the DKS032 floating disc.
Road Approval
An approval document for this article number has never reached us, and no German ABE exists for it. We sell the AGPP91STMX for off-road and competition riding, which is also the use Accossato intends.
Scope of Delivery
A box of two AGPP91 pads in the STMX compound, enough for the rear caliper of one bike.
