DescriptionThe whole story▼
Accossato offers the AGPA288 front pad for the Yamaha YZ450F from 2020 to 2022 in the Off-road sintered (STMX) compound, the material it calls its compound for off-road riders. This is the choice for racers and hard-riding amateurs who head out whatever the weather, on tracks that turn to mud or sand, and who want the front brake of their big four-stroke to be designed for dirt from the start.
Key Features
- Front brake pads for the Yamaha YZ450F, 2020 to 2022
- AGPA288 outline in the STMX off-road compound, code AGPA288STMX
- Accossato's compound for off-road riding
- Designed for mud, sand, dust and water
- Two pads per box for the front caliper
- An ST version is also listed
- No German ABE held; for competition use
Construction and Material Quality
The STMX material is Accossato's off-road specialist. The manufacturer's description stays short, naming it the compound for off-road riders, and the AGPA288 brings it to the current-generation YZ450F front caliper. Like every Accossato pad, it is intended to wear slowly, resist fade and stop strongly. The company, founded in 1969, is based at Villastellone near Turin today. Each box holds the two pads needed for one caliper.
Sand Tracks and Deep Whoops
On a sand track, the front brake of a YZ450F is used in short, sharp bursts before each berm, and grit is constantly ground between pad and disc. Over a season that wears both parts, so regular inspection is important. An off-road compound is meant to function in that abrasive environment. After riding, rinse the caliper to remove sand, and check the disc thickness more often than you would on a clay track.
When ST Makes More Sense
Riders on firmer, drier tracks may find the ST version of the AGPA288 a better fit. The STMX earns its place when mud, sand and water are the rule rather than the exception.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the AGPA288 for the front of the Yamaha YZ450F from 2020 to 2022. The 2008 to 2019 bikes take the AGPA110 instead. At the rear, the AGPP106 is listed for 2003 to 2022. For the discs, Accossato names the DK111, DK168, DK268 and DK269.
Road Approval
No German ABE or test report is on file for this pad. It is sold for competition and off-road riding away from public roads.
Scope of Delivery
