DescriptionThe whole story▼
The HS051 converts the BMW F700GS's cable-operated clutch to a hydraulic system, built around a clutch pump with a 13.5 mm piston, a matching clutch hose and the AT002-43-53 actuator, which together replace the stock cable and lever mechanism. Accossato makes the kit in Italy, describes it as lightweight and straightforward to fit, and says it is designed to reduce the effort needed at the lever. Fitting is intended for a qualified workshop, after which the system is filled, bled and its operation checked before the bike goes back on the road; only DOT 4 fluid is specified.
Key Features
- Converts the cable-operated clutch to hydraulic operation
- Clutch pump with a 13.5 mm piston
- Clutch hose included
- AT002-43-53 actuator specific to this application
- Lightweight, made in Italy
- Said by Accossato to reduce lever effort and need little maintenance
- DOT 4 fluid only
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato describes the conversion kit as a lightweight, Italian-made product designed to be straightforward to install, built around a clutch pump with a 13.5 mm piston rather than the cable and lever arrangement fitted at the factory. The clutch hose and the AT002-43-53 actuator are matched to that pump, replacing the mechanical actuation at the gearbox end with a hydraulic one. Accossato states that the system needs very little maintenance once it is set up and bled, and specifies DOT 4 fluid exclusively for the whole system, with no other fluid listed as suitable.
Less Effort Through a Full Day's Riding
A cable clutch on an adventure-touring bike like the F700GS tends to stiffen with wear and with the extra cable length routed to accommodate the bike's upright bars, and that resistance adds up over a long day spent working the lever in traffic or on unpaved tracks. Accossato markets the hydraulic conversion specifically on reducing that effort at the lever, and a hydraulic system does not stretch the way a cable does over time, so the resistance felt on day one should be closer to what is still felt after extended use. For a rider covering long distances on an F700GS, that is as much about comfort over hours in the saddle as it is about outright lever feel at a standstill.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato confirms the BMW F700GS (2006–2015) for this kit; the same clutch pump, hose and AT002-43-53 actuator also carry over to the Kawasaki VERSYS 1000 (2015–2016), a separate listing on this site with the identical parts inside the box. Exact production years for the F700GS are set out in the Fitment tab on this page.
Road Approval
There is no ABE or parts certificate documented by Accossato for the HS051; registration rules depend on the country, so check before road use.
