DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Yamaha XJR1300 was the last of the big air-cooled fours, a machine with its engine on display and no interest at all in hiding what it is. Accossato lists it twice: the SP version from 1999 to 2001 and the later machine for 2015 and 2016. Riders who keep one tend to know its history in detail and to spend their money on parts that suit the way it is built. The FC124 is a quick-release fuel tank cap machined from aluminium, with the pawl available in six colours.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Yamaha XJR1300
- Accossato lists the SP for 1999 to 2001 and the XJR 1300 for 2015 and 2016
- Aluminium, machined from solid on CNC equipment
- Quick-closing pawl for opening and closing the tank
- Pin in blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
- Replacement pawl available on its own
- Check which of the two entries applies to your machine
- No German ABE documented; sold for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Solid aluminium and a CNC machine are the whole of the process, and Accossato considers what comes out of it robust and durable, with a design that is new rather than a copy. On the XJR1300 the quick-closing pawl is the part that gets used: one movement to open the tank, one to close it. Six colours are listed for the pin inside the pawl, chosen at the time of ordering, and that pawl is also sold separately, so damage to it does not mean buying the cap again.
Two Entries, Fourteen Years Apart
Accossato's list holds this machine at two points in its life, with a long space in between. That space is a gap in the records rather than a gap in the model's history, and it is the reason we print the years the way they appear rather than joining them into one line. An air-cooled four of this kind also asks for a little patience in the paddock. The engine takes its time to cool, the cylinders sit where your hand naturally goes, and nothing about refuelling should be hurried when a machine has just come off a circuit. Let the XJR1300 stand, let it cool, then open the tank, pour steadily and wipe up anything that runs down the side before it reaches the finned metal below.
Fitment and Compatibility
This product covers the XJR 1300 SP of 1999 to 2001 and the XJR 1300 of 2015 and 2016, the two entries Accossato gives for this cap. Machines from the years in between are not listed. At Inter-Pace the FC124 is also filed under the FJR1300, the FZ1 Fazer and the MT-10. Compare your machine with the application list before ordering.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no parts certificate are documented for this cap, so it is supplied for closed courses. For the road the XJR1300 keeps its original cap, which normally locks with the ignition key.
