DescriptionThe whole story▼
With the ZX-4RR, Kawasaki brought back something that had almost vanished from showrooms: a four-cylinder sports bike in the 400 class, with an engine that loves to rev and a chassis meant for the circuit. The RR is the most track-focused version, and many owners ride it at race schools, club meetings and track days where lightweight bikes run in their own groups. Refuelling a small bike looks simple, yet the vapour from its tank behaves no differently from that of any other machine. For the ZX-4RR of 2024, Accossato lists the FC126, a quick-release fuel tank cap cut from aluminium on CNC machines.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Kawasaki ZX-4RR, model year 2024
- Aluminium throughout, CNC-machined
- Quick-closing pawl for short stops
- Pin in blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
- Pawl available as a separate spare part
- New design, robust and durable in Accossato's words
- No German ABE documented; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
The FC126 is aluminium and nothing else, cut on CNC equipment, and Accossato calls it robust and durable, the design new. What you touch when refuelling the ZX-4RR is the quick-closing pawl, which frees the cap quickly and seats it again just as fast. The pin on the pawl comes in the colour you order. If the pawl is ever bent or broken, Accossato can supply a new one without a complete cap.
Which Way the Wind Blows
Petrol vapour is heavier than air. It flows out of an open filler, sinks towards the ground and drifts wherever the wind takes it, which is why experienced paddock hands glance at the flags on the grandstand before they pick up a fuel can. Stand so that the breeze carries the vapour away from you rather than into your face, and never towards a generator, a heater or someone's cigarette. Helpers who crouch beside a small bike like the ZX-4RR to steady it are closer to the vapour than they may realise, so ask them to step back while you pour. Pour steadily rather than quickly, so the fuel does not surge up to the rim. Close the FC126 as soon as the can is lifted away, wipe off any drops and return the can, capped and upright, to its place away from the pit box. Then give the air around the bike a moment to clear before anyone starts the engine.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's entry for this bike reads ZX4RR 400, 2024, so the FC126 is listed for the 2024 model year only. The same cap appears in our range for the Ninja 400 and the Ninja 500. If your ZX-4RR carries a different model year, please ask us or check Accossato's list again before ordering.
Road Approval
No German ABE or parts certificate is documented for the FC126, which limits it to the track. A ZX-4RR used on the road should keep its standard filler cap there; it normally needs the ignition key.
