DescriptionThe whole story▼
From 2015 to 2020 Jonathan Rea won the World Superbike title six years in a row on Kawasaki's ZX-10R family, and the generation built from 2016 to 2020 is the road bike behind most of that run. Its owners race at club level and ride track days rather than world rounds, yet they share one habit with the factory team: the bike goes out only when every item on the checklist has been ticked. For this ZX-10R, including the ABS model and the SE from 2018, Accossato offers the FC113, a quick-release cap for the fuel tank in CNC-cut aluminium.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Kawasaki ZX-10R, 2016 to 2020
- Covers the standard model, the ABS version and the SE
- Entirely CNC-machined aluminium
- Quick-closing pawl for fast opening and closing
- Six pin colours: blue, green, black, red, silver, gold
- Spare pawl sold on its own
- No German ABE documented; for track days and racing
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato cuts the FC113 from aluminium on CNC machines, with no other material in its body, and calls it robust and durable; the look is a fresh design of the company's own. In use, everything revolves around the quick-closing pawl. One movement frees the cap, another closes it again, so the ZX-10R's filler stands open only while fuel is going in. The pin on that pawl is where your colour choice shows. Pawls can also be bought individually, which means a damaged one is replaced without buying the whole cap again.
What a Championship Checklist Teaches
Professional race teams work from written checklists, and the fuel cap appears on them for a simple reason. A filler that is not properly shut can let fuel escape onto hot parts or the rear tyre, and a rider who falls because of it may take others down too. The habit transfers easily to a privateer's garage. Write your own list for the ZX-10R and keep it in the toolbox: tyre pressures, wheel spindles, brake pads, levers, chain tension and, after every refuel, cap closed and pawl engaged. Tick it before each session, not only in the morning. Make refuelling a fixed moment in the routine rather than something done in passing, with the engine off and the bike upright on its stands. If two people work on the bike, agree who checks the cap, because a job both assume the other has done is how things get missed. None of this will make a club rider as fast as a world champion, but it removes one of the small risks that professionals take care to rule out.
Fitment and Compatibility
On Accossato's list, three entries lead to the FC113: the ZX-10R with ABS from 2016 to 2018, the ZX-10R from 2016 to 2020 and the SE from 2018 to 2020. For bikes up to 2015 Accossato gives the FC143, and from 2021 the FC126, so the model year decides which cap you need. In our range the FC113 also appears for the Ninja H2 and the Z1000R Edition.
Road Approval
No German ABE or parts certificate is documented for the FC113, so its place is the circuit. A road-registered ZX-10R should keep its original cap for public roads; that cap normally locks with the ignition key.
