DescriptionThe whole story▼
Kawasaki presented the Z900RS for 2018: a current four-cylinder engine and chassis under a shape taken from the 1970s, with a round headlamp, a teardrop tank and a ducktail. Its owners tend to have firm views on details, and one question comes up again and again in garages and forums: how far can a retro bike be changed before it loses its character? A machined fuel cap is a good test case. For the Z900RS of 2018 to 2025, Accossato lists the FC113, a quick-release cap for the fuel tank, CNC-machined in aluminium and closed by a pawl whose pin comes in six colours.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Kawasaki Z900RS, 2018 to 2025
- CNC-machined aluminium throughout
- Robust and durable according to Accossato
- New design, modern rather than retro in style
- Quick-closing pawl; pin in blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
- Replacement pawl available separately
- No German ABE on record; for circuit use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato makes the FC113 wholly from aluminium on CNC machines and considers it tough and long-lived. The design is new and makes no attempt to look old, which is exactly what the debate is about. A quick-closing pawl opens the Z900RS's tank quickly and closes it again, and its pin is ordered in one of six colours. If the pawl is damaged, Accossato supplies it separately.
Retro Tank, Machined Cap
Purists would keep a Z900RS exactly as it left the factory, and they have a point: the bike was designed as a whole, and its classic outline is the reason it exists. Others see it as a starting point, much as many owners of the original bikes did in the 1970s, when swapping parts was simply part of owning one. A machined cap sits between these positions. It changes one of the most visible details, right in the middle of the tank, yet it is small and easily reversed, and the original can be kept safely and refitted at any time. The pin colour decides how far the change goes. Black or silver lets the cap blend with the bike's dark and bright metal parts; gold or red makes a clear statement against the paint. Since the FC113 has no road approval, the question mostly arises for a Z900RS that goes to circuit days, and for those days a modern detail is easy to justify.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list gives the FC113 for the Z 900 RS from 2018 to 2025 in a single entry. At Inter-Pace this cap also appears under the Z1000SX and the Ninja H2. Hold the model year and version of your Z900RS up against the list before you order.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no parts certificate are documented for the FC113, and so it is sold for the circuit. The Z900RS's original cap normally locks with the ignition key and stays on the tank for road riding.
