DescriptionThe whole story▼
Long before any factory used the word, a streetfighter was a sports bike that had lost its fairing, often after a crash, and been rebuilt in a home workshop as a raw naked machine with wide bars. Ducati took that idea into its own range, and the Streetfighter 848 of 2012 to 2015 was its lighter, more approachable interpretation, powered by the Testastretta twin. Many of these bikes are now with their second or third owner, and some have become weekend track bikes. For the Streetfighter 848, Accossato lists the FC135, a quick-release fuel tank cap machined entirely from aluminium.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Ducati Streetfighter 848, 2012 to 2015
- CNC-machined from aluminium, the entire cap
- Quick-closing pawl for fast opening and closing
- Pin colours: blue, green, black, red, silver, gold
- Replacement pawl sold separately
- New design, robust and durable according to Accossato
- No German ABE on record; for the circuit
Construction and Material Quality
The FC135 is a CNC-machined aluminium part from top to bottom, which Accossato describes as robust and durable, and its styling is new. The quick-closing pawl opens the tank of the Streetfighter 848 quickly and closes it again just as fast. You choose the colour of the pawl's pin from six, and if the pawl is damaged, Accossato sells it separately.
Where the Streetfighter Name Comes From
The original streetfighters were built by riders, not factories. A crashed sports bike with a ruined fairing was stripped down, fitted with a flat handlebar and a pair of round headlights, and whatever could be made lighter or tougher in the garage was changed. The results were rough, loud and personal. Ducati's Streetfighter 848 arrived finished and polished, but it keeps some of that spirit: many owners still change things themselves, one part at a time. A quick-release fuel cap for circuit days fits that way of working, as long as the job is done carefully. The home-workshop rules apply as they always did. Work only with a cold engine and the bike steady on a stand, keep grinders, welding and open flames out of the room while the filler is open, clean the seat of the seal before the new cap goes on, and check for leaks after the first fill. The streetfighter tradition was about doing the work yourself; it was never about doing it carelessly.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list gives the FC135 for the Streetfighter 848 from 2012 to 2015. We also list this cap for the 1299 Panigale, the 959 Panigale and the Diavel. Before ordering, make sure your bike matches the application list; the cap replaces the stock filler cap. After fitting, fill up and look for dampness around the rim before the Streetfighter goes out.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE and no expert report for the FC135, so we sell it for track use. The Streetfighter 848's factory cap normally opens with the ignition key and belongs on the bike on public roads, where this cap is no simple swap.
