DescriptionThe whole story▼
The BMW F800R is the straightforward member of BMW's F800 family: a naked roadster with a parallel twin, chain drive and an upright position that makes it easy to learn on. It is the kind of bike you often find at cornering courses on short circuits and kart tracks, where instructors work with small groups. Those days consist of many short sessions and plenty of stops, so the bike is started, stopped and refuelled more often than on a normal track day. For them, Accossato offers the FC103, a quick-release fuel tank cap machined from aluminium, with the pawl in six colours.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the BMW F800R, 2009 to 2020 as listed
- Made completely of CNC-machined aluminium
- Quick-closing pawl
- Pin colour choice: blue, green, black, red, silver, gold
- Pawl available on its own as a spare
- New design, robust and durable according to Accossato
- No German ABE documented; intended for closed circuits
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato, based in Villastellone near Turin, machines the FC103 wholly from aluminium on CNC machines and calls it robust and durable. The design is new. On the F800R the cap closes with a quick-closing pawl that opens the tank quickly and shuts it again just as quickly, which suits a day of frequent stops. The pawl is offered in six colours, and a replacement can be bought on its own.
Lessons on a Short Circuit
Cornering courses on tight tracks follow a rhythm. The instructor explains an exercise, the group rides a few laps, then everyone stops for feedback before the next step: looking further ahead, braking more progressively, moving the body. It is intense and effective, but it also means the F800R spends much of the day idling, stopping and restarting, and the fuel level drops faster than the short laps suggest. Refuel during the lunch break rather than at the end of the day, when everyone queues for the can and concentration is fading. Engine off, bike upright, cap open, fuel in, cap shut. Slow exercises also produce the occasional tip-over at walking pace, so it is worth checking the cap and pawl after any fall, however gentle. If the pawl has taken the knock, it can be replaced separately.
Fitment and Compatibility
For the F 800 R, Accossato gives one undivided entry from 2009 to 2020. Inter-Pace lists the same cap for the F800GT and the R nineT as well. Please compare your bike with the application list before ordering.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE and no parts certificate on record for the FC103. It is for closed circuits only; the F800R's standard cap, which normally locks with the ignition key, remains the one for road use.
Scope of Delivery
One FC103 quick-release tank cap with your chosen pawl colour. The pawl is sold separately as a spare.
