DescriptionThe whole story▼
Before the season opens, many Dorsoduro 900 riders book the same job every spring: fresh brake fluid. The supermoto-styled Aprilia, successor to the 750 from 2017, is often ridden in short, hard bursts from one corner to the next, and the front brake does most of that work. A fluid change means opening the front reservoir anyway, which makes it the natural moment for a new cap. Accossato's TS004, CNC-machined from aluminium and anodised, is listed for the front reservoir of the Dorsoduro 900 of 2017 and 2018.
Key Features
- Front brake fluid reservoir cap for the Aprilia Dorsoduro 900, 2017 and 2018
- Covers the Euro 4 version with ABS of 2018 as well
- For the original reservoir on the handlebar
- Aluminium, machined on CNC equipment, anodised
- Seven colours: red, gold, black, green, silver, orange, blue
- Accossato FP001 oil cap and TS013 rear cap for the same bike
- No German ABE documented, intended for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Seven anodised colours are offered for the TS004: red, gold, black, green, silver, orange and blue. Underneath the colour is aluminium that Accossato machines to shape on CNC equipment before the anodising step. The cap is made for the original front reservoir of the listed models, so the Dorsoduro keeps its master cylinder and lines as they are. Take the opportunity to inspect the rubber seal or diaphragm when the old cap is off, and replace it if it has hardened.
Levelling the Reservoir on Wide Bars
The wide handlebar of the Dorsoduro 900 gives plenty of leverage in tight bends, and it also helps in the garage: a small turn of the bars is enough to bring the front reservoir level before it is opened. Get that right first, because a tilted reservoir spills as soon as the cap comes off. Then protect everything below it. A folded towel over the tank and another over the headlight surround will catch drops, and a bowl of clean water within reach lets you rinse off anything that lands on paint, which brake fluid attacks. If the fluid is due, the order is simple: open, change the fluid as the owner's manual describes or let a workshop do it, set the level between the marks, fit the TS004, and do the fixings up gently. Keep the reservoir open for as little time as possible, since brake fluid absorbs moisture. A new cap on old fluid would only look like maintenance. Before you ride, squeeze the lever at a standstill until the pressure feels firm and consistent.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list gives the TS004 for the front reservoir of the Dorsoduro 900 in 2017 and for the Euro 4 version with ABS in 2018. We also carry the same cap for the Dorsoduro 750, the Shiver 900 and the Mana 850 GT. For this Dorsoduro, Accossato offers two more caps: the FP001 for the oil filler and the TS013 for the rear brake reservoir. Please check the application list against your bike before ordering.
Road Approval
For the TS004 we have no ABE or test mark at hand, so we sell it for track days and competition.
