DescriptionThe whole story▼
Sooner or later, many a Panigale 1299 S goes up for sale, and its owner faces a question that has nothing to do with price: should a stranger be allowed to ride it? The S, with its electronically adjusted suspension, attracts buyers who want to feel the difference for themselves. Yet the first minutes on an unfamiliar superbike, with cold tyres, new controls and a nervous rider, are exactly when slow-speed mistakes happen. For the 1299 S of 2015 to 2017, Accossato lists the PF050, two black front axle sliders.
Key Features
- Front axle sliders for the Ducati Panigale 1299 S, 2015 to 2017
- Accossato PF050, supplied as a pair
- Aluminium and plastic construction in black
- Kit with spacers, screws and the other mounting parts, according to Accossato
- Intended to take the first contact in a tip-over or slide
- No other Accossato protection part listed for the 1299 S
- No German ABE on file; offered for competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato makes each PF050 slider from aluminium and plastic and supplies the pair in black, one for the left and one for the right side of the front wheel. The kit is described as complete, with the spacers, screws and remaining parts required for mounting. On the Panigale 1299 S their role is to be sacrificed first: in a fall or a slide they are meant to scrape along the tarmac ahead of the fork and the axle area, and in doing so they can limit the harm there. Expect them to wear, scratch or break over time. That is the reason for fitting them, and a damaged one is simply exchanged.
When a Buyer Asks for a Test Ride
Letting a stranger ride your bike is a decision, not an obligation. Many sellers of a Panigale 1299 S only allow a test ride once the buyer has seen the bike, agreed on a price in principle and shown a valid licence. Check that your insurance covers another rider, and put in writing who pays for damage; some sellers ask for the purchase price in cash as a deposit while the bike is away. Before the ride, explain the riding modes and the controls, and let the buyer try pulling away and turning in a quiet car park first, where a stall or a clumsy full-lock turn harms nobody. Superbikes have little steering lock, and that surprises people who come from other kinds of motorcycle. Ride along on your own bike or agree on a short, fixed route. When the 1299 S comes back, look it over together, including the sliders, before any money changes hands.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application list shows the PF050 for the Panigale 1299 S from 2015 to 2017, which is how we have listed it. For this model, the list contains no other Accossato protection part. The same sliders appear in our shop for the standard Panigale 1299 and for the Panigale V4 R, among others. If you are not sure that your Panigale 1299 S matches, send us its details before ordering. After fitting, spin the front wheel and turn the bars fully to both sides to confirm that nothing touches the sliders.
Road Approval
No approval paperwork, German ABE or otherwise, has been made available to us for these sliders; they are therefore offered for racing and competition purposes.
