DescriptionThe whole story▼
On a fine Sunday in summer, the famous Alpine passes can turn into a slow procession: camper vans, cyclists and coaches, and somewhere in the middle a Multistrada 1260 whose rider would much rather be moving. Stop-and-go traffic on a steep, twisting road is hard work. Hairpins force the bike to a near stop on a slope, feet go down on broken tarmac at the edge, and one misjudged moment at walking pace is enough. For the Multistrada 1260, Accossato's list gives the PF05 front axle sliders for 2018.
Key Features
- Front axle sliders for the Ducati Multistrada 1260, listed for 2018
- Accossato PF05 front fork protection
- Two protectors, left and right
- Aluminium and plastic in black
- Spacers, screws and all further parts for mounting included, per Accossato
- Designed as the point of contact if the bike tips over
- No German ABE on record; for track and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's PF05 is a pair of black front protectors made of aluminium and plastic. The company states that it packs the spacers, the screws and all the other parts needed to mount them. In daily use, the sliders simply wait. Should the Multistrada 1260 topple at a standstill or slide at low speed, they are intended to make the first contact with the road, before the fork, and that can reduce the damage there. A slider that has done that work may be worn or cracked, and then it is replaced. The company behind it is based today in Villastellone, near Turin.
Hairpins in Heavy Traffic
Slow traffic on a mountain road tests clutch control far more than skill at speed. On an uphill hairpin, stop before the bend rather than in it if the queue ahead is standing, so that you can pull away on a straighter piece of road. Hold the bike on the rear brake while you let the clutch in, which leaves the right hand free for the throttle, and rehearse the move on a quiet slope before the holiday. Put down the foot on the uphill side first and look for clean tarmac: the inside of a hairpin is often steep, broken and scattered with gravel. Keep a generous gap to the vehicle in front, since coaches and camper vans sometimes roll back a little before they move off, and give cyclists patience and room. On the Multistrada 1260, a relaxed grip and a gentle throttle hand make the crawl less tiring. And when the road widens again, resist the urge to make up for lost time; the next bend may be just as crowded.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list gives the PF05 for the Multistrada 1260 for 2018, and we have linked the sliders in the same way. No other Accossato protection part appears for this model. The PF05 is also listed in our shop for the Multistrada 1260 S and the Multistrada 1200 Enduro, and for the Monster 1200. After fitting, turn the bars of the Multistrada 1260 from one lock to the other and spin the front wheel to be sure nothing touches, and check the screws after the first ride.
Road Approval
No German ABE or test mark is documented for the PF05 in our records, so it is offered for racing and competition use.
Scope of Delivery
Two PF05 sliders in black with the spacers, screws and remaining installation parts from Accossato.
