DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 is at its happiest on a mountain road, where the V4 pulls hard out of one hairpin and on towards the next. Mountain roads have their own hazards, though. After a storm, grit and gravel are washed across the tarmac, often right at the apex of a hairpin, where the rider is already leaned over. The result can be a slide at low speed. For the Tuono V4 1100 of 2015 to 2018, Accossato lists the PF031, two black front axle sliders.

- Front axle sliders for the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100, 2015 to 2018
- Accossato front fork protection, part number PF031
- Two pieces, left and right
- Aluminium and plastic, black
- Spacers, screws and all other parts for fitting included, per Accossato
- Meant to touch down ahead of the fork and axle area
- TP058 crash pads also listed for this bike
- No German ABE documented; for track and competition
Construction and Material Quality
With the PF031, Accossato combines aluminium and plastic in two black protectors, one for each side. The spacers, screws and other parts required for mounting come with them, according to the manufacturer. On a naked V4, the protectors have a simple purpose: when the bike slides or tips over, they should reach the tarmac first at the front, so that the fork and the axle area may escape with less damage. After a heavy impact, a slider has done its job and is replaced.
Gravel in the Hairpin
Experienced mountain riders read the road ahead: water running across the tarmac, dark streaks left by a stream, stones gathered at the edge. After rain, expect grit on the inside of hairpins, where the water carries it down. Brake before the bend while the bike is upright, pick a wider line that shows you the exit, and keep the lean angle modest. If you find gravel mid-corner, stay smooth, with no sudden braking and no sharp throttle. Electronic aids, where fitted, can help, but loose stones remain loose stones. On a group ride, point out the gravel to the riders behind you. If the Tuono V4 1100 does go down, check the front sliders, the brake lever, the handlebar end and the fork before continuing, and turn the bars from lock to lock to make sure nothing rubs. A slider that has taken a hard hit should be replaced.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list shows the PF031 for the Tuono 1100 V4 from 2015 to 2018, which we have linked to the Tuono V4 1100. The identical pair is also listed at Inter-Pace for the Caponord 1200 and the Dorsoduro 750. For this bike, Accossato also makes the TP058 crash pads. Please compare the list with the details of your Tuono V4 1100 before ordering.
Road Approval
We have no German ABE and no approval papers for the PF031, so it is offered for circuit use and competition.
